      Advantages

      Disadvantages

An excellent buy for the money, there are more expensive lights that don't even come close to this.

I bought this light around two years ago now from Halfords for around £15 at the time. It was also available with a rear light in a multipack but seeing as I already had a rear light I bought just this front light. ---AESTHETICS--- Straight from word one I was impressed by the looks of the light which is probably why I opted for this model in the first place. As shown in the picture the light has a black case which has a matt finish and a slightly rubberised texture. The front of the light is made of clear plastic but the sides of this front section are clouded so that all of the light from the 5 LED's goes where you want it to - providing greater visibility. The whole case of this product is very streamlined and personally I think it looks very stylish. ---FITTING--- This light fits to the front handlebars of your bike by a simple clasp that tightens up with a hand turned screw thread. The inside of this clasp has rubber to grip to the handlebars and provide a solid grip so the light stays steady when in use. This hand held screw tightener is very easy to put on and off quickly and therefore I don't need to leave the light on my bike so it has no chance of getting stolen. ---FUNCTIONS--- This light allows you to have the option of it being on constantly, off constantly or it has a flashing mode. Personally I have never used the flashing mode except when limping home with little battery but I suppose some may prefer this mode for everyday use. ---BUILD QUALITY--- After having this product for two years it has been put on and taken off of bikes many hundreds of times and been used for many hours in hot, cold and wet weather. In that time I have never had any problems with this light and it has even stood up to being dropped a few times. There are a few minor scratches on the product but this is to be expected from such heavy use. I think that this product will last me for many years to come yet but if it does pack in I will certainly be buying another without hesitation. It just feels quality when you touch it, and the O-ring seals are made of very high quality rubber ---BRIGHTNESS--- This product has five very high powered LED's that light up well into the distance so you can easily see things and can be seen by others. The fact that the light is channelled forward by the casing gives much more light from the product - so much in fact that you cannot look into the light when it is on. This product is great for commuting to university or even riding for pleasure in the dark. I have in fact even used it for mountain biking through a forest in the dark and it provided me with enough light to see all the tree roots and ruts that could have been quite dangerous. ---BATTERY LIFE--- This product takes three AAA batteries and actually lasts for quite a decent length of time on them. When they are running out the LED's begin to fade slowly before dying so that you know they are running out but you could be given more warning, and consequently this is the only criticism that I have with this product. ---OVERALL--- For the money this light is certainly bright enough and versatile enough to cope with most demands from users. The build quality is very good and it will certainly last for years longer than you think it will. Well worth an investment.
