ArcServeIT Workgroup Edition features intelligent, end-to-end remote client server and local server data compression, which increases device capacity. Even if your tape drive doesn't support compression or hardware compression is disabled, ARCserveIT will compress the data, increasing your back-up and restore performance. And, if the data has already been compressed, such as ZIP files, then it will not perform any software compression. The Image Option available from ARCserveIT enables high speed image backup of volumes by streaming data directly from the disk to tape (or other supported media), bypassing the file system. This ensure high performance local back-up and restore. ARCserveIT includes support for tape libraries, creating a single, logical, high performance device with virtually unlimited media capacity. It also provides mirroring, striping, or striping with parity across drives within a tape library, or across libraries. Remote, single point installation eliminates time consuming local installation of agents on each system. And the easy to use installation wizard provides you with automated installation. ARCserveIT also identified SCSI tape drives and automatically sets your configuration parameters. Both features combine for time saving set-up and optimizes operations and automatically sets block size for reach drive.
