Novell ZENworks 1.1 for NetWare ... Z.E.N.works automates desktop management using the power of Novell Directory Services (NDS) to remotely provide application management, software distribution, desktop management, and workstation maintenance. Z.E.N.works minimizes the time users and network administrators must devote to workstation management: administrators are free to concentrate on more critical issues, and end users can have confidence in their workstation setup. Using the dynamic inheritance capabilities of NDS, Z.E.N.works extends the configuration created for each user. Desktop policies, profiles, printers, and applications based on the user's specific needs and preferences are all stored in NDS, so users can log in from anywhere and view their own familiar desktop. You can also set up a standardized desktop configuration for workstations independent of the user. With Z.E.N.works network administrators can deliver applications promptly from the nearest server. Z.E.N.works also provides automatic workstation fixes: if a user inadvertently deletes vital files, for example, desktop icons or DLL files, Z.E.N.works repairs the damage by automatically reinstalling the deleted files. Z.E.N.works also provides tools to centrally distribute, manage, and update applications and Year 2000 manufacturer-recommended application remedies on Windows-based workstations across your network.
