NetBackup BusinesServer's support for multiplexing helps exploit advances in tape drive native transfer rate by allowing up to eight concurrent data streams to be written to a single tape device. This helps ensure tape devices are driven at or near peak performance, optimizing peripheral hardware usage and raw backup speeds. And, by caching backup data to shared memory, BusinesServer "buffers" data flows, ensuring continuous data transfer to tape devices. Additional levels of parallelism, including spawning up to eight concurrent data streams from a single backup job, may be employed to further enhance backup performance.

Intelligent Disaster Recovery Option provides the only "point-in-time" recovery solution, for both local and remote Windows NT systems, that eliminates the need to first re-load the entire operating system. Using either the diskette-based, or new exclusive CD-R/CD-RW or bootable tape (OBDR tape drives only) solutions, recovery will get you back online fast allowing you to restore from your last complete backup set - including full, incremental, and differential backups. An automated, step-by-step wizard system allows you to get your system to the state it was at the time of your last backup, by selecting defaults or allowing you to reconfigure it, so you control the recovery operation in the manner best suited to your needs.
