Ideal for small to mid-size workgroups and remote office locations, NetBackup BusinesServer can support up to two tape drives per backup server, or a maximum of one robotic tape library with up to two drives and up to twenty-two slots.

NetBackup BusinesServer's support for multiplexing helps exploit advances in tape drive native transfer rate by allowing up to eight concurrent data streams to be written to a single tape device. This helps ensure tape devices are driven at or near peak performance, optimizing peripheral hardware usage and raw backup speeds. And, by caching backup data to shared memory, BusinesServer "buffers" data flows, ensuring continuous data transfer to tape devices. Additional levels of parallelism, including spawning up to eight concurrent data streams from a single backup job, may be employed to further enhance backup performance.
