Advantages: Very gentle, soothing and refreshing

Disadvantages: Doesn't remove every last trace of dirt

It's too often the case that for a cleanser to work really effectively it is rather harsh on the skin, or it manages to be gentle but fails to remove all the dirt from the pores. Sadly, I've not found a product that manages to defy this logic in Decleor's Cleansing Water but nonetheless I have found a good quality product that is great for sensitive skins.

Decleor say that it "will minimise the risk of irritation, and will help to calm your skin while bathing it in freshness and softness" and is "gentle on your sensitive and reactive skin", so it's clearly a product that is meant for sensitive skin that is easily irritated. It contains camomile, neroli, lavender and marjoram essential oils and rose, sweet clover and mallow essential waters.

The packaging is simple and unimpressive - a slightly bulbous plastic bottle with a screw top lid. Given the price of this, it would have been nice to have packaging that felt a bit more substantial - heavier plastic or even glass would be a nice touch.

To use, you simply apply to a cotton pad and stroke gently over your face to cleanse. The liquid itself is completely clear and consistency-wise is slightly thicker than water but not quite as thick as a gel. As you stroke across your face it feels cooling, soothing and refreshing and you are able to smell the rose oils and camomile - a light, gentle and subtle smell. It leaves my skin feeling really cleansed, refreshed, not at all tight and my complexion looks lovely and even. However, as with all cleansers that are applied with a cotton pad rather than being a facial wash, I do find that I like to use a toner after applying this to remove every last trace of grime and after applying the toner I can definitely see that the cleanser has not removed all of the dirt. Decleor state that this is suitable for all skins. My own skin is combination with some oily patches on the forehead and around the nose but can be a touch sensitive at times. I have found that this is wonderful for calming my skin down whenever it's having a bit of an oversensitive outburst - the camomile really acting to sooth and take away any redness.

All in all, I like this Cleansing Water and I use it whenever my skin is feeling a little bit irritated or worse for wear as it is so soothing. Although it's not strong enough to be effective enough to remove all of the London dirt that clogs my skin, it does a pretty good job and I do expect to use a toner with a cleanser like this. I actually received this as a freebie with a purchase from HQ Hair, but its normal retail price is around £18 for 200ml but if you're happy to shell out £5.38 more for the 400ml bottle you can get yourself a good value product from salonskincare.co.uk where 400mls are only £23.38.

Summary: A gentle cleanser with essential oils

I always struggle finding a good cleanser for my skin because, like yours, it can be really sensitive sometimes. You may have persuaded me to try this but only if I can get it as a bargin haha :]. You should try simple facial cleansing cream, it works absolutely brilliantly for me and is really soothing, plus, it hasn't got the price tag of a pair of shoes :] xo
