Advantages: Light texture. Non greasy. Conditions nails and cuticles

Disadvantages: Not a good smell. No anti ageing results

Recently I noticed that my hands were starting to look a bit crepey and looking a bit older than the rest of me. This is probably a combination of age and a lack of care. So I thought I would try to do something about it and invested in Decleor Nourishing and Soothing Hand Cream. The reasons I chose this particular Hand Cream were that firstly I had tried a few other Decleor products and found them effective and pleasurable to use and more importantly, this product claims to 'Help limit the signs of ageing, fine lines and age spots' 'Helps reduce excessive perspiration' 'Nourishes and protects from external aggressors to leave the skin satin soft'.

The first thing I noticed when I opened this was the smell, and not in a good way. Usually Decleor products have a really nice smell, but not in this case. In fact, initially, it actually made me feel quite nauseous. However, desperate for nice smooth hands I have persevered with this and try not to inhale the aroma.

The Hand cream comes in a bright yellow tube with the Decleor branding and product details printed on the front and back. The tube has a screw top lid. Personally I think flip tops are more practical on a product which you apply to your hands for obvious reasons. The cream itself is really light in texture but you really don't need to use a large amount. It sinks in really well, does not leave any greasy residue and your hands do feel very soft and nourished after use. I have found this effect to last for several hours unlike some I have used in the past which have simply disappeared and actually made the hands feel dry.

Unfortunately, I have not noticed a significant change in the appearance of my hands. They do look more nourished therefore slightly less crepey but I am not convinced this is solely as a result of this particular product , maybe, the same effect could have been achieved equally as well with another product, given the fact that I wasn't using hand cream overly regularly before this. No exceptional results in the anti ageing department here I'm afraid. It does condition the nails and cuticles quite well though.

I purchased a 50ml tube of this and it has lasted quite well but for a product that you may need to use several times per day due to washing and at night as well I think a larger size would be better. (If you like the smell that is). The normal price for a 50ml tube is £14.00 but it can currently be purchased from Cheapsmells.com at £7.95 including delivery.

Conclusion: Not a good smell, and, given the price tag and claims I would have expected more of an anti ageing effect from this product. For me, the search continues for a good anti ageing hand cream.

Summary: No outstanding results. Will continue the search for the perfect anti ageing hand cream
