Advantages: Healthy Tan Without Burning
Disadvantages: None
I know it’s only February but it’s been a glorious day here in the North East, the sun is shinning and the temperature is quite mild for the time of year and on my way to work I started dreaming of getting away on holiday. I used to approach the holiday season full of trepidation, I love going abroad on holiday in the knowledge that the sun is going to shine and it is going to be really hot, but I always knew I would come home looking like a lobster. I have red hair and very fair skin and as soon as I hit the sun, yes you’ve guessed it, I go bright red and peel. Well about four year ago I was told about tan accelerators and I thought I’ve got nothing to loss so I gave it ago. Apparently it’s the melanin in your skin, which protects you from burning and helps your skin to turn brown when you are in the sun, but the melanin is about five layers under the surface skin. When you are out in the sun the melanin starts to rise to the surface and this takes about three days, in the mean time your skin goes red and you burn, not only does this not look very attractive, it is uncomfortable and these few days where you burn is the cause of most skin cancers. I always used a high protection sun factor but I still used to go red and burn in the first few days and arrive home red and peeling. Tan accelerators have an ingredient in them, which tricks your skin into thinking you are in the sun, and the melanin starts to rise to the surface. I bought a 75ml tube of Decleor tan accelerator for £16.50 plus £2.45 post and packing from QVC and used it every day for a week before I went on holiday. After using a body scrub to exfoliate all the dead skin I applied the tan accelerator as a body lotion, paying particular attention to drier areas such as my elbows, knees and ankles and also put it on my face under my day cream. It went on really smoothly and I was surprised at how little I needed, it really spread a long way. My skin felt so
fter and had a dewy look to it but I was able to get dressed straight away, it was not at all sticky. Tan accelerators are not self-tanning lotions and they do not change the colour of your skin at all. When I arrived on holiday I applied my usual high protection sun lotion and hoped for the best. At the end of my first day I basically looked no different, I had not gone red at all but did not look tanned either. After the second day I was starting to go slightly brown, according to my husband I had a healthy sun kissed glow, I was really pleased because normally I would be bright red by now. As the week went on I started to slowly turn brown. I continued to use the Decleor tan accelerator as an after sun lotion whilst on holiday. I applied it early evening after my shower before going out, elemis tan accelerator includes vitamin E and carrot extract which are both natural protections against sunburn and I thought that would be an ideal protection for the evening sun. I arrived home that year with my first ever suntan, I did not go a really deep brown but I did have a nice even tan. My husband who never has trouble getting a good tan also used my Decleor tan accelerator and he looked as if he had been in the sun for about a month. I continued to use my tan accelerator after I returned home and this prolonged my tan and kept it looking fresh. Now four years on I would not be without a tan accelerator, I have tried different brands and they all seem to do the job, but I always go back to the Decleor tan accelerator; it is not scented, acts as an after sun lotion, has a natural low sun filter included, it absorbs into the skin quickly, is light and non-oily, penetrates deep into the skin, goes a long way and I believe it is great value for money, one 75ml tube lasted my husband and I two weeks. I have since found Decleor Tan Accelerator in large department stores in Spain and the Spanish Islands and they sell for around £8 so I now stock u
p while I’m on holiday because the tube has a shelf life of three years if kept unopened in a cool, dark place. I recommended Deleor tan accelerator to all of my family and friends. However I also tell them they must still use an adequate sun protection lotion there is not a high enough sun filter in a tan accelerator to give you protection in high temperatures. Initially you might think Decleor tan accelerator is expensive but when you consider how much your holiday costs and how much time you waste avoiding the sun if you actually do burn then really it’s not a lot of money to invest. If your not going abroad for your holidays by using a tan accelerator you can maximize the little bit sun we get in this country over our so called summer. Now all I need is a holiday, got a couple of weeks off work over Easter so I’m off to look at the late deals on Teletext!

- 31/05/03 tried it, followed it to the very easy guide, but still red as a lobster, and no sign of even a slight browning, does not work, this day and age you would think that someone would bring products out that actually do as they claim. |

- 31/05/03 sounds very interesting, and just what i have been waiting for, but? it does not work, I have followed directions in every way, and yet still lobster red, no signs of any browning at all, still, I will try anything once. would be good for someone to come up with a product that actually works, this day and age you would think that someone could do that, "does what it claims" |
