Advantages: Luxury
Disadvantages: None
Harrods, which opened in 1849, is a world wide, well known department store tha is known for its luxurious image.
The store is situated in Knightsbridge and the nearest station is Knighstbridge which is on the Piccadilly line. It should be noted that one should dress appropriately when visiting the store.
It is one of the world's largest department stores and is definately worth a visit. The store itself is grand and there is even an egyptian staircase. The store sells almost everything, from clothes, to furniture, to homeware and electrical items. They even sell pets, and the well known 'Christian' the lion cub was even purchased at Harrods.
One of my favourite departments in Harrods, is the toy department. I have been visiting the toy department since a young child and I still enjoy it just as much. There is a whole section which just contains beautiful teddy bears.
As well as the toy department, I find the Foodhall in Harrods to be extremely interesting. There is a great variety of products available, from a candy store, to a bakery, to a charcuterie and I definately recommend a visit. I often go to Harrods whilst I am in Knightsbridge and get picnic food to take to the nearby Hyde Park, which is just a stroll away. If you prefer to eat in store, there are at least 30 eateries. Whilst it may be seen as a luxury store, this does not necessarily mean that everything in store is expensive. There are plenty of items at reasonable prices, so don't be put off.
Make it a site to visit!
Summary: A grand place to visit
