Advantages: Huge size, everything you could need, very friendly smart staff (some rather HOT)
Disadvantages: Some things have ridiculous prices for what they are (chocolates for example)
Harrods has got to be one of the most well known department stores in London and is located in Knightsbridge right by the Knightsbridge tube station, on the Piccadilly line which makes it extremely easy to get to, along with plenty of buses passing by too.
Now I am not a local so don't visit Harrod's all the time, infact I don't live anywhere near London so it's not a usual haunt of mine however everytime I goto London it is one of the first stops I make.
The store itself is massive, each floor is huge and its stacked up on 7 floors, it's rather easy to get lost in there but its very well sign posted, signs at all turning points help you navigate the floor your on and find your way to the lifts and escalators, these are very cool looking by the way. At each floor is a sign telling you what's on that floor and each other floor. Their is also a guide or you can download a map onto your smartphone to help you navigate the store, the store is very large but very well layed out.
Their is countless amount of staff on all departments also happy to help, it was a tad annoying when 4 people asked me if I needed help in the space of 5 minutes but I moved on and it was fine. When I made a purchase staff always smiled and were polite, they asked if I needed any directions or any further help. Also very courteous wishing me a good day.
The store also has plenty of restaurants & cafes to suit all tastes located throughout the store, you can spend a long time in there as its so big so it's nice to be able to have a sit down and grab a drink for a break in your shopping or nice for a meal with friends or loved ones. I didn't use them this time but have used one of the cafes before and bought a very delicious cup cake and drink, very pricey but then this is Harrod's and it's what I expected, the cupcake was amazing though (this was years ago so not sure if it's still there now).
The store has a rewards card, this is very good but only think it's worth it if your a regular there as you need a LOT of points to get anything back.
The store is very bright and clean, prices are high but I found men's designer underwear was cheaper in Harrod's than in Selfridge's and John Lewis this time round.
The store also has a Harrod's department which has loads of branded items, practically anything you can brand they have put the Harrod's stamp on, great to grab some gifts for people or treat yourself.
I love Harrod's and although some stuff are ridiculously priced and it'd not be my weekly place to shop everytime I goto London I go to Harrod's and can't help but buy something. Highly recommend for visitors or locals now and then.
Summary: I love Harrod's and will visit again next time I'm there like I do everytime
