A great place to wander round

Selfridges is probably the most iconic part of the newly renovated Bull Ring Shopping Centre in Birmingham, perhaps second only to the bronze bull itself. The unique and futuristic curved shape of the outside of the store, which is covered in 16000 aluminium discs, makes it a real focal point for visitors.

It is rumoured that it cost £40 million to make the store what it is today and it truly is an excellent shopping experience throughout. The whole store has a very contemporary, modern feel to it on each level. Selfridges is set over a number of levels with criss-crossing escalators throughout the centre and lifts on the outside.

The ground floor consists of the food court area which gets extremely busy! It perhaps should not be a surprise as the food here is fantastic and there is always something to suit every taste. Yo Sushi has always been very popular, and it is perhaps with this in mind that another Japanese style noodle bar has recently joined it, in place of the old smoothie bar. There is a Pret A Manger in the centre of the food court area offering various snacks, Tiffin Bites which offers a selection of world foods and a Krispy Creme for those with a sweet tooth.

Throughout the food court area there are also numerous stalls offering delicious desserts, cheeses, olives and much more. This really is THE place to come for great food in Birmingham and I don't think I've been able to get past the dessert counter yet without buying one!

There is a huge sweets and chocolate section which covers everything from your High St favourites right down to more exotic foreign brands with a particular penchant for American goods. There is an impressive multi-coloured Jellybean built bull on the ground floor mirroring the bronze one outside.

The ground floor also offers cards, household goods and gadgets amongst other things.

The first floor houses what I call the "affordable clothing" sections. It is an open plan design, similar to the ground floor, and houses brands such as Topman, Fred Perry, G star, Allsaints, Superdry and many many more. There are a whole host of trinkets and other bits and bobs to buy around here too, including a decent mix of trainers.

This floor also houses a tattoo and piercing salon and an electrics section, home to all things TV.

As you go up the floors, so do the prices, hence the fact that I tend not to venture too far above the second! This is home to fragrances, watches, beauty products and the like, before you continue on up to the "non-affordable clothing" sections and finally a top floor champagne bar for those who wish to celebrate their purchases in real style!

Overall I would say that Selfridges in Birmingham is a good shop with something in there for everyone. It does get very busy, particularly at the weekend, and it is expensive compared to other stores.

If you want something a little special to wow guests at an evening get together, this is the place to come, just make sure you pack your wallet!

        Selfridges Birmingham

Me and my boyfriend spend ages in here every time we come. I absolutely love looking at all the designer clothes but unfortunately you need to have a lot of money to buy from here! I have never had any problems with this store so this is a positive review. My boyfriend has bought many items from here and he has never had to return anything. The sale was absolutely fantastic- but I had no money I was so annoyed!

Selfriges stores are located throughout the United Kingdom and this store is actually in the Bullring in the centre of Birmingham which is very handy because if you get the train in you can get here without going outside if you go past TK Maxx and you can also park in the Selfridges car park which takes you straight into the store but beware the charges are astronomical.

The store has three floors which represent different sections. This is common for Selfridges.

        On the first floor is

        The Food Hall:

This consists of a Yo Sushi restaurant, noodle bar, Krispy Kreme doughnut bar, Ice cream restaurant, Energy Kitchen and many other stalls. The food in here is absolutely fabulous. We tend to go to Yo Sushi all the time but we have tried other places and the quality there is fantastic too! I do recommend all of the food places here because they do actually have something that will suit everyone. The prices are a little high but you pay for what you get! There is also a sweetie section and there is a large animal made out of jelly beans which is fantastic.

        Children's Clothing:

In this section there is a number of different brands also in section which include Ted Baker, Juicy Couture, Armani and many more. So, if you want to spoil your children rotten, this is definitely where you should come!

        Wines:

They also have a section of the finest wines, champagnes, spirits and other alcoholic spirits. We once walked past and there was a diamond encrusted bottle of Champagne for £10,000!

        Luggage:

They also have a selection of the finest brands of luggage!

        First Floor:

        Women's High Street Fashion:

This includes brands such as Warehouse, Topshop and now Juicy Couture - I cannot Believe it! They also sell Pauls Boutique bags which a pretty amazing and other stores such as All Saints!

        Men's High Street Fashion:

This includes G Star Raw, Topman, Lyle and Scott, All Saints and more. You can always guarantee you will see something really nice as they have so much stuff here it is unbelievable. Everything is up to date- fashion wise!

        Technology:

In this section they sell the highest range of TV's, Laptops, Gadgets and much more!! My boyfriend also got some Xbox 360 games from here as they had a really good sale on!

        Second Floor:

        Beauty Hall:

The do the most exquisite ranges of make up that I have ever seen. The do Mac, Dior, Chanel you name it... Wag's paradise!

        Men's Shoes:

They sell a wide range of Men's shoes- Ugg Boots, Trainers, Adidas, Prada, D&G and much more!

        Sunglasses and Watches:

This section just makes me want to drool! I really want some Dior Sunglasses!

        Third Floor:

        Lingerie:

I have never bought anything from this section but they do have designer ranges and all things beautiful!

        Women's Designer Wear:

In this section they sell lots- Paul Smith, More Juicy Couture, Armani..Gorgeous! They also sell Women's shoes- the Jimmy Choo's I wanted two years ago have come out in a gorgeous colour! and lovely accessories!

        My Opinion

I could actually spend hours and hours in here. I know the price is a little bit steep on almost everything but I just like looking as well. There is usually quite a lot of people in there as well which can be quite annoying but other than that I love it. I just need some more money!

          Selfridges Birmingham

Selfridges has got to be the best shop in Birmingham for me. As its only about a half hour bus ride away from where I live I am seen there a lot, although more often than not it's just browsing rather than actually buying anything!! I like more or less every single woman on the planet am a designer label lover whether it be handbags, purses or t-shirts but unfortunately I cant afford them as often as I would like. However when I do have a bit of money to burn this is the place you will find me spending it!!

          Where Is This Selfridges?:
The Selfridges in Birmingham is situated in the relativley new Bullring Building this is around a 5 minute walk from both New Street & Moor Street station and even less from most bus stops. It is very simple to find and once your in the Bullring you will see it straight away.

          The Store:
Now obviously if you have seen the size of any Selfridges store then you will realise that is has to be split up into different floors and categories for people to find their way around.

Floor 1: Food Hall, Wine Shop, Luggage, Kids & Coffee Shop
The food hall in Selfridges is amazing and despite what you may think its not actually that expensive, well it was a lot cheaper than I had imagined anyway. There's a very wide range of restaurants and cafes to suit you individual tastes and there even an actual shop where you can go and purchase food such as sushi and ravioli to take home and eat when you want to. Some of the restaurants include: Starbucks, YO Sushi, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts (:P), New York Deli & Energy Kitchen among others. I have tried the doughnuts and New York Deli restaurants and they are both amazing and the food tastes soo nice so I really do recommend people try them.

Floor 2: Women's Street Fashion, Men's Street Fashion & Technology.
This floor is like my heaven with designer clothes and bags everywhere. I cant really comment of whether the Men's Fashion section is any good because obviously I have never shopped there but if its anything like the woman's part then I'm sure you will be very impressed. In this shop it does start to get a bit confusing because the sections are split up into sections but once you get your bearings it is very easy to find the designer name your looking for. I especially like the Topshop section they have in the Birmingham Selfridges because most of the clothes sold there are actually cheaper than in the real Topshop. Some of the designer brands they sell include: Juicy Couture, Paul's Boutique (MY FAVOURITE!!), Gucci, Prada & Versace among others. The prices are obviously pretty expensive but when they have a sale on you can get some amazing deals so it is worth taking a look.

Floor 3: Beauty Hall, Menswear, Mens Shoes & Sunglasses:
As I just mentioned in the last section I cant comment on the Mens sections but from what I have heard an seen the products seem to be fantastic. But the "Beauty Hall" is amazing. From reading my reviews by now you have probably guessed in a massive make-up and beauty junkie and if I'm looking for something a bit more upmarket and classy this is where I come to get my fix. I cant afford it very often but if your rolling in cash I highly recommend that you come here for any lotion or potion or even perfume you want or need.
Ranges include: Bobbi Brown, Chanel, Clarins, Clinque, Dior & Estee Lauder among others.

Floor 4: Lingerie, Womes Designer Wear, Womens Shoes, Accessories. Moet Bar & Gallery Restaurant & Hair Salon.
The shoes part of this section is like my own personal heaven and there is one pair of Chrsitian Louboutin stilettos that I am determined to own one day. I have never used the hair salon and that is simply because I could never afford it but having seen a few people who have had their hair cut or styled there I am very jealous because it looks amazing. The Moet Bar was where my works Xmas party was held this year and I felt really out of place because it is really nice and posh in there and I did not fit in with that image at all, trying to order a pint!! You should have seen the look on the staffs faces :) It was a good night out but not really my scene but if your used to wining and dining then this would be a great place for you!!

          Overall:
Overall it is a great place to eat and shop but only if you have the money to do so, this store is not great for people on a budget. Every now and then though when you fancy treating yourself I highly recommend you do it in this store and for people who want a nice, tasty meal for very little cash this store is the perfect place to try out. I have always been really impressed with the customer service and Ive found the staff are always happy to help you find a certain brand name or the perfect dress for a night out and this just makes the whole shopping experience in my opinion much better. The Paul's Boutique display is where you will find me every time I have some cash, I'm addicted to this shop now after being initially sceptical and I'm sure you will be the same.

          Thanks For Reading

            Fantastic store

Selfridges in Birmingham is a fantastic shopping experience. Its situated in Bull Ring Shopping Centre, just a stones throw away from Moor Street train station,Also close to New Street train station and ample car parking.

Selfridges itself is huge, on the ground floor is the food hall from fantastic Krispy Kreme doughnuts, sushi and so many sweets!!! Then there is so many concessions of ladies fashions, from MIss Sixty to Top shop to Coast etc, definetly something for every age, shape and size woman. There is also a very good mens section, i just briefly walked through this section so i only noticed All Saints and FCUK concessions. For the ladies a floor with every perfume you could think of, from DKNY to Davidoff smellies. The make up section is to die for, they have some very luxurious brands like Creme De La Mer, very popular with the celebrities, to Mac, which i personally love.

I love shopping at Selfridges Birmingham, i can easily spend a whole day in this one store, reminising over the sweets that you havent seen for ages like Lucky Charm cereal.

The staff are always very helpful, nothing to much trouble, do anything to help.

However you choose to travel here, its all very central, bus, train and car parking. I would recommend this store for a spot of retail therapy.

If your rainy day has come, it's worth a visit!

Selfridges Birmingham is located in the fantastic space-aged Bullring Shopping Centre just steps away from the train station!

It's a great place just to browse and while-away sometime, or to do some serious shopping!

I would like to point out that Selfridges is not really a place for bargain hunters, but for people who really don't mind splashing out. There are a lot of designer brands, Gucci, Prada, Versace, Juicy Couture, which the average student like me can only dream of purchacing! In this economic crisis I feel there are better value places to visit, but Selfridges in a nice place to visit (and dream!)!

Selfridges covers four floors. To give you a run down what is on each floor:

Second floor: Women's Street Fashion, Men's Street Fashion and Technology.

The Food Hall is excellent. Finally a floor where you can actually afford to buy something! A lot of tastes are catered for here. There are restaurants and cafes including: Starbucks, Energy Kitchen, Ekachai Noodle Bar, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Morelli's Gelato (Ice cream!), New York Deli, and YO! Sushi.
