Placed order over the internet for several items.Get an email after a week saying i have been refunded for goods that they had not in stock.Thats okay, but if the site says in stock when ordering, then it should be fulfilled. They said my money had been refunded to my bank card, thats strange becasue i paid via paypal. It took 6 days to get that back.
Now the delivery.Nearly 2 weeks to arrive, opened it up.One of the duvet sets they said they hadnt in stock was there, the one that was in stock isnt there. The boots arrived, thought id try them on,Oh dear,no laces.
You ring them up and its constantly saying they are busy.Whats this, customer complaints?
After 10 minutes of hanging on,they ask you to leave a message and they will call you back.Theyve never called once.So theyve took your money off you by making you hang on the phone at local rates for 10 minutes, clever ploy.
I will never ever order off this useless company again and have advised others not to do so.No wonder there shops went bump. Its a damn shame the whole lot didnt go under because they have no idea in a customer service based industry.
DO NOT USE,YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
i bought some items back in february order number 271758‏ and contacted them when i had a delivery date to advice that i will be working on that day but can get half day off at short notice, and they agreed to contact the courier company and advice them to deliver after 2pm when i will be at home . when i got home i had a 'sorry missed you' card saying that order was delivered at a non existent addrees inn my block, called them and they insist that address existed, after a while she sd to try the flats in my block to check if delivered to them, and even went as far as advicing me to try other blocks ! can you beleive it.... a few days later, she sd they have contacted couriers and it was actually delivered at a different flat which i didnt realise had an occupier, but i knocked on door many many times and had no response. for weeks and months i called and emailed the store regarding this, but they refused to respond to my emails and on the phone told me that no refund will be authorised as they delived the package. i have even sent a complaint letter for someone to look further into this, but have had no respond from them , nor an acknoledgment of my letter. four months later and i have still not received my package or my money back and i dont know what to do, so any help and advice will be appreciated.
Took money twice from my account for a trampoline which they didn't have in stock...I was told that I will have my money back within 48 hours...even after 6 days and several phone calls later still no money..last phone cal I was told VERY RUDELY that refund was held in a queue but do not know why..and I will receive it now within 48 hours..thats £264.00 in total..I had enough of this rubbish company...NEVER AGAIN...NEVER AGAIN.........RIP OFFS
I received a copy of a T J Hughes 4 page leaflet in the Daily Mirror that I purchased recently that had a Dyson in at £199; which I thought was a great price
I research it on-line and it was the best price on the market.
Having read a number of reviews about the quality of service; I was a bit dubious about buying it on-line through them. But in the end I decided to take a risk and buy!!
The payment went through, I received an email confirmation of purchase and within 2 days the Dyson was delivered to my front door in perfect working order
I even received a courtesy call of the customer service team to check that everything was ok with my purchase and that I was happy with the service
It was a great service and I will definitely be shopping with them in the future and would recommend any one else to do so as well!!
Until recently i worked for this company at its weston super mare branch. The place is going hill very fast since christmas all the staff (except Team leaders & Managment) have had there hours cut twice from 20hours then 16 then 12. This is so demoralising and i know that a lot of the staff will be leaving for this reason.
How they expect anyone to live on that sort of wage is beyond me.
On the floor i worked you never got any help from your manager or team leaders who seemed more interested in drinking tea in the staff room. The place is so disorganised stock all over the place in store rooms and other places.
You hours would never stay the same from week to week (check the rota on a monday for foolowing week you would make plans next day you go in find rota change.)
Also there is never enough staff on sometimes it was just me and one other on the whole of the floor for at least 2 hours.
We would constantly be getting price changes through sometimes you would change the price of items twice in a week.
So if you do go into TJ Hughes in WSM and staff are unhelpful the above reasons.
It is my personal belief that this company is struggling badly in the current climate and might not be around for long. Although they have apparently taken a 15 year lease out on the building in WSM but that not worth the paper it wrote on if they go bump.
I always rated TJ Hughes as they were great value for money, went online, which was a totally opposite experience, i ordered abed as i was told i could get saturday delivery, spent £350, waited 2 days to recieve an email which stated will recieve bed in 7 working days when in actual fact the lady on the phone said 14. Rang them to find out how i go about saturday delivery, they then said they didnt deliver on saturdays. willing to take a day off work, they were unwilling to give me delivery date and kept handing me off to Sleep designs. Sleep designs arerude, and kept putting the phone down 7 WORKING days had passed - NO BED. rang again kept getting promised calls back, nobody called. got lied to about some 'new system'. then finally spoke to the manager who then told me the truth that they have a bad relationship between themselves and supplier, and no communication is taking place. got a refund, and took my business elsewhere. I refuse to give TJ Hughes any of my business from now on, they have lost a very loyal customer. I told them they need to change their website to reflect the 14 day delivery - they have, but now fully deny it ever being at 7 working days.
I made a formal complaint and got ignored for weeks, nobody bothered to reply. Then recieved a reply saying in summary "youve had your refund now go away", Even though i had been put out so much by this company.
Funnily enough, the following week DSL tried to DELIVER the bed, i refused to accept it incase i was charged again, and Sleep designs new nothing about the cancellation of the order.
DO NOT SHOP ONLINE WITH TJ HUGHES - THEY DONT TAKE YOU SERIOUSLY AND WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY RESPONSIBILTY. THEY SHOULDNT BE ALLOWED TO SELL ONLINE.
I purchased a bed and galaxy intempo from TJ hughes website back on 2 December. I returned the intempo and was told by them that they received it on 17 December. After months of chasing for my refund I was told today that they have never received the item and wouldn't get a refund. I had been told on numerous calls prior to this that me refund would be processed and that I would receive it within 7-10 working days. I was told that there were no notes on the system to say that I had ever been told this. I also didn't receive the bed I ordered until over 3 months after I placed the order. Their staff were so useless that I had to end up calling the delivery company and Sleigh bed myself when they should have been calling them. I will never buy anything from them again and advise anyone not to buy from them also as they have the worst customer service that I have ever experienced.
I wanted a Push and Go Thomas for my Nephew, but Amazon only had the Percy version. After some searching I found the T J Hughes site, which said that they had stock, and took my order. Six days later I get an email saying 'We regret to inform you that we are temporarily out of stock of your requested item' and then 'As we are currently unable to confirm when we are likely to receive a further replenishment of this item(s), we are therefore sadly unable to accept your order at this time'.Utterly useless time wasters.
If you are spending a mass amount of money at a TJ Hughs store on something you may need to return, think twice. Getting a return is one of the most difficult things you could try to do. Its not simple like other stores they have a book full of products they cannot directly accept a return of. They have to send it off or you have to mess about trying to sort it out yourself like i had to!! I returned a broken pram, they had to send it off to the manufacturer and promised they would call back within two weeks. Two weeks later i had heard nothing so I begun to question them. Apparently the manufacturer wasnt picking up the phone .. for a further 4 weeks ? So 6 weeks later I go in ask the 'manager' of the store about it and was spoken to like an idiot and a child ! He didnt want to take responsibility and sent me upstairs to find someone else. I asked them for the number of the manufacturer and got through on the third try! It is hopefully sorted and my pram should be back in a few days! After I took matters into my own hands! Completely ridiculous I wont be buying from this store again.
I was looking to buy the solid oak bed on TJ Hughes website but it kept saying that my card details were in correct when trying to pay for the item. I tried numerous amount of times and it kept saying the same thing - card details incorrect but I bought a money counter for £9.18 including p+p and that worked fine and the conformation e-mail came through as per normal. After trying approx 18 times over the weekend I gave up and the promotion ended. Then 4 days later I found out that over £1000 had left my account as I had unknowingly purchased 3 beds? and no conformation e-mail to let me know. After this followed loads of phone calls to try and sort this mess out and eventually all my money was replaced (after another 5 days) and still no bed! 2 weeks later the bed was back on the website but this time without the matress. I phoned up to try and order the bed again asking them if they would still do a deal including a matress as I felt I had done all that I could when the offer was on and that they were at fault. Speaking to the telesales staff they were unable to help me so the teamleader phoned me back after I requested to speak to him who was very unsympathetic and said that basically it was all my fault and he was not prepared to do anything. Still not happy with this I asked to speak to his boss (Paul Lambert) who to this day has still not phoned me back!
I have now bought the same bed that TJ Hughes was selling direct from the supplier on E-bay (Sleepdesign uk) for a lot cheaper than I could of got it from TJ Hughes and with a better customer service and less hassle. My advice to anyone looking at buying anything from TJ Huughes would be to look around first, their cheap on price but someone else is always cheaper and their customer service isn't what it should be. After looking at other reviews im clearly not the only one that they have snubbed and I will never shop at any of their stores again
Having shopped in TJHughes for a number of years and found most things satisfactory, I purchased an electical `log burner effect` fire two years ago, since then I have had three fires replaced by thier Newport store, as each fire litirally blew up, I had electrical engineers reports on them because I wanted to be sure it was not down to my house electrics, it was`nt, it was a faulty elecrical fire every time, however, T J Hughes staff in thier Newport Store in Wales was more than helpful, however, the current situation has changed very much
today I went to take the latest dangerous fire back for a replacement. the Newport Store Manager refused to exchange it, unless I paid a further £30.00 because, currently, the fire was not on offer, I purchased it when it was, the total cost of the fire however is exactly as it was when I bought it.
I am now contemplating taking this issue to both Strading Standards and the Health and Safety Executive, these fires are dangerous, they are faulty and TJ Hughes current managers are not complient with the law, T J Hughes executive please take note.
biggest con on the high st!new vac lasted 2 weeks, no refund no exchange allowed!!breaking the law! so its the small claims court for me!be warned anything goes wrong. you will have to do the same!!wish i could leave rating of -10*
Well, the store is a good place to go if you are looking for some bargains. They have plenty of them around! The staff are friendly (at my store at least) and are always willing to help. There are sometimes quite long queue's but they go down after a while. It does get quite hot in my local store, but i would rather be hot and grab a bargain than be cold and pay high prices for the products.
Its a great place to shop, i recently bought one of their 10ft trampolines and i cannot fault the product. It was cheap and it looks steady and reliable and only took about 30mins to set up. My kids love it.
If you have a local tj hughes near you, i would recommend you go in there because they have soooooooo many bargains in store you end up in there and buying loads of products because its just so cheap!
I have recently worked for TJ Hughes and have just left. I was a sales assistant working in the Flagship store.
In the current climate, if anyone is lacking funds you will certainly love this place, its got pretty much everything you could ask for. The majority of the prices are great.
Saying that, during my time there, I couldn't even begin to tell you how many times I was either asked to 'price check' something, leave the till and the customer because their product didn't have a barcode or price on it. This was one of the most irritating things I came across. Customers would get antsy pretty quickly with this being a bargain store, they just want to get in and get out. This would happen several times a day. Sometimes, we had to get a great, big blue book out on the till to check the prices or the barcode!
With the store being so huge, it wasn't easy to work there! Customers will love it, but I would not recommend that anyone take up a job here- unless its what you enjoy of course! Its very, very hectic- especially at weekends and is pretty much non-stop. The managers always have something to say and are not afraid to shout you down in front of a customer- this can get quite demoralising sometimes.
If you do shop here, try to understand that the staff are very stressed and you being a grump isn't go to help you or them! Queues develop frequently and I do feel they are understaffed at times. It can also get horrifically hot. I'm not sure about other stores- but the flagship store in Liverpool is like a sauna. There is no air conditioning and the only source of cooling comes from two industrial fans which are very big and often get in the way, and more often than not, just simply blow the hot air around! I had numerous customers a day claim how hot it was and asked 'how we worked in these conditions.' I even recall a collegue of mine actually fainted in work- this may or may not have been down to the heat.
The products are very cheap and if you want a bargain- this is the place to be. Almost everything is covered and certainly would recommend coming here if you want items for birthdays, etc. Or if you just want to treat yourself! The staff in Liverpool will always be friendly and helpful, if there's any around that is!
If you want a job here- I would not recommend it though- if you are scrounging for a job at the moment, then yes, it pays well and with good hours but the stress does counter-act that. With products that often don't have pricetags, barcodes that don't work properly, grumpy customers, bossy managers, card readers that don't work at times, and excessive heat, I would see this as a last resort for anyone looking for a job.
TJ Hughes is a large discount department store who first opened up back in 1912 with a store in Liverpool, when it was the only high street store to offer discounted rates on top kitchen, home, fashion and beauty brand names. The store in Liverpool is apparently famous in it's home town.
Today, TJ Hughes has 52 stores around the entire country and a thriving online website which delivers to almost every part of the UK. This is a great way to take advantage of some of the famous brands at discounted prices even if you don't have a TJ Hughes store in your area or if you'd just prefer to order online & use their very good website.
The website is very easy to use, from the main page you see all of the top deals they have, it has large bright clear pictures which make it easier to see what your buying. The menu system is very clear to use aswell, its a drop down style menu at the top, which has all the different departments on, when you hover on them it drops another menu down this allows you to either shop by product type or if you prefer a certain brand you can select to shop by brand, for example you might like LG home appliances so you go onto the Home Appliances department menu and then select 'Shop By Brand LG'. this makes it a lot easier if your a fan of a certain brand or you have seen a product you like at another store and want to see if TJ Hughes has it cheaper. It's also easy to get a glance of your basket, as your shopping, on the top right hand side of the screen you can hover over the 'Shopping Basket' button, you dont even have to click it, and it drops down with a box showing whats in your basket & how much you've spent, makes it much easier, I think, to keep track of your shopping while your doing it, rather than having to click on 'Shopping Basket' to open a new page like on other sites.
Their stores are usually alright, I have visited a few of them and they are always stocked full, never see an empty shelf or rack. They have a lot of stuff on sale their including top brand names in electricals, home, ladies & mens fashion, childrenswear, beauty, toys & fragrances. In my opinion the clothes are not all the best, and I don;t remember ever buying anything from here before, but you can get some nice sportswear in there & if you want work shirts they look good too, they have all the top fragrances on offer but I have never bought any as they don't have the two I use, but I think they do a 3rd one I have just discovered so might have to buy some soon :D. They have some great deals on kids toys from what I could see at Christmas, I don't have kids of my own yet, I'm only 24, but I did look for presents for my two young cousins who are 8 & 2 and they had some great bargains on top branded toys. Onto their homeware, they have some very nice kitchen wear, very good deals on plate & cup sets, some very nice quality wine glasses & within the Bathroom you can get some cheap but top quality, smoothe towels in a range of colours. Onto electricals, they have some great deals on all your usual home electricals, but I must say their heaters are not very good, I had 2 & neither of them worked. Their member of staff at the Coventry store are not the most friendly or helpful of staff, the lady on the customer service counter was rude to me, practically told me there was nothing wrong with the heater even though the top bar of the heater didn't come on the first one, then the 2nd one had a lot of smoke coming from it. So I must say the staff at the Coventry branch let the company down, because apart from that they are a great store with discounts on the top brands, it makes you think how much other stores are making on these brands if TJ Hughes can sell them so cheap.
