I dont know if i would describe my local tj hughes as a department store but i still love it.

My local store in plymouth has 2 floors of fairly good size. Lower floor has seasonal goods, perfumes, clothes and toys and the upper floor has more clothes and homeware and electrical goods.

I especially love TJ Hughes at this time of year for stocking up on xams pressies. Perfumes especially are a good buy with brand names such as charlie, britney spears and david beckham for low prices starting at £5 for instants britney spears fragrance £8 and anais anais for £8. Another faviourite of mine are the gift packs of smellies. really pretty sets of shower gels lotions and puffs from £3.50 ideal for those realtives you dont know what to buy.

There is a good selction of toys and greatly reduced prices from there rrp and clothes but not noticed any brand names.

The home ware sections variety is imense and agin very reasonable for example a small slow cooker for £6 and the range includes crockery, cutlers and glass ware as well as high quality pots and pans.

If you have store near you it is worth going to compare prices as they usually are the lowest on the high street.

Summary: good quality and well below their rrp.
