Advantages: It does what it is meant to

Disadvantages: The price for some people may be an issue

Brand Background
Dermalogica's story started in 1983, when skin therapist Jane Wurwand founded The International Dermal Institute. The International Dermal Institute now has over 50 locations in the United States, United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, Germany, Australia and New Zealand and trains over 75,000 skin therapists every year. Jane founded Dermalogica in 1986 and they ar efamous for shunning products that are the industry norm (cheap chemicals) like Mineral Oil, Lanolin, S.D. Alcohol, artificial fragrances and colors. They are known for keeping their packaging simple and sustainable.

The Product
This is a foaming and cleansing face wash that is designed to prevent future skin breakouts. It is an antibacterial face wash that cleanses the skin of impuirites and excess oils and is formulated with Triclosan and Salicylic acid. The bottle is plain white and they come in a variety of sizes. The bottle I have is a 250ml bottle and I paid around £16 (including delivery) from a website called Jersey Beauty Company. They also do 500ml bottles for around £30 (including delivery). The packaging of Dermalogica products is very plain and simple with no fuss. They have a flip bottle top, where you press it down one side and there is a small opening that you just squeeze the face wash out of.

My opinion
I have been using this product for well over a year and would NOT use anything else. I am far from a typical 'girly-girl' but I like a good face wash and cream. The downside to this product is without a doubt the price. Some people may baulk at the cost BUT please bear in mind that this product lasts a VERY long time if used correctly. I use this once a day and an amount the size of a 5 pence piece is needed vefore adding water to it before it starts foaming. You just rub this foaming face wash over your face like you would do when ordinarily washing. Then you rinse with warm water. I wouldn't say that I have acne-prone skin but when I do have a breakout they can be quite bad and this helps in no uncertain terms. I believe that with long term use this has definately helped my skin and I have far less breakouts than I used to have. This face wash cleanses your skin without drying it out and I think that it has improved my skins surface as well.

Ingredients
Water, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium Lauroyl Oat Amino Acids, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Lauramide DEA, Extracts Of: Melissa Officinalis Leaf, Quillaja Saponaria Bark, Echinacea Purpurea; Butylene Glycol, Sodium PCA, Salicylic Acid, Tetrasodium EDTA, Camphor, Menthol, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Diammonium Copper EDTA

Overall
I think that Dermalogica is a fantastic brand. I know that this isn't the cheapest brand but if you weigh up how long the product lasts you will find that it doesn't vary that much from High Street brands. I like the fact that they promote looking after your skin the same way you do your health and I would highly reccommend this product. For those people that are unsure, I would say that the best option is to buy a Skin Kit that Dermalogica offers. They do various skin kits and they range as follows:-

Skin Kit Dry
Skin Kit Normal
Skin Kit Normal-Oily
Skin Kit Oily
Skin Kit Sensitised
Age Smart Starter kit.

These kits can be brought from Jersey beauty online for £16 with the exception of the Age Smart, that is around £30. You get 4 or 5 bottles of travel size products and this will give you a chance to try the product without committing to the bigger bottles. These products can probably be found at a reasonable price on Ebay too.

Summary: If you are unsure give the skin kits a try
