~A skin care treatment that hits the spot!~
**********************************
Whilst the Clean Start range of Dermalogica products might well be aimed at the teenage skin care market there certainly is no reason not to give this product a try if you have been having issues with unwanted spots and skin blemishes even if you are not in that age group. I found out about this product by way of a recommendation from a friend who had used it and found it worked quite well, so when I was looking for an easy to use solution for a sudden skin breakout I decided to try "Hit The Spot" and see if it had a positive effect.
The actual product can be easy to apply and also quick to use as long as you are careful when using the push in button at the base of the container. You do need to take care not to push too hard on the base of the container, as heavy pressure results in too much of the product being released at the applicator end. A little trial and error is needed in order to get the required pressure just right so as not to waste too much of the skin treatment. Once you master this, it is a simple case of applying the product to the skin and letting it set to work.
~The product in action~
******************
The idea of this skin care product is that it can help to put a swift stop to unwanted skin breakouts using a combination of ingredients found in many acne/ spot/ blemish treatments alongside a range of natural plant extracts. The mix of ingredients is held within a simply made and reasonably easy to handle container which holds a small amount of product (10mls) within it. In use I found that the product often worked to reduce unwanted spots etc, with just a couple of very light applications, although it cannot offer an instant solution, it does most certainly seem to improve things over the course of a day or two.
I found that it is quick and simple to apply this product to an effected area of skin that needs treatment with very little effort. The product seems to work by drying out the area of skin it is applied to and reducing redness. One thing to note is that less is more when applying this to the skin, as it can cause a degree of peeling if applied in a heavy handed way. This can be hard to get right sometimes as the container can release a little more of the product than is needed unless you take care not to press too hard on the applicator button.
My feeling is that a 'less is more' style of application is the way to go when using this, so as to get the best results from it. I would say that when using this on light to moderate spots and blemishes, results tend to be fairly good, although this product won't rid you of larger more prominent spots in an instant, it can often calm them to a more acceptable degree than when not using the product. There are a number of skin calming plant extracts in the product which are there to help the skin to recover more quickly as well as the active ingredients that work to reduce spots and as long as you apply a little rather than a lot of the product, the results tend to be better than leaving an unwanted spot to its own devices.
~Applying the product~
******************
If wanted you can apply this to your skin by just it dabbing on to the effected area every 6 to 8 hours as directed, although I have found that it is sometimes best to wait a little longer to re-apply this as you can risk some skin peeling if you apply too much, too often. It works best if you apply this before you moisturize your facial skin and I always make sure to cleanse before application in order to get the best results. Whilst I have found this product to be quite good in some situations, it cannot be considered a cure all for every skin breakout, as it isn't able to work miracles. However there are times when using some of this product can and does help.
~Product rating/ price~
*****************
Over all I feel this product is deserving of a 4 star product rating as I have been mostly happy with the results I have had when using this. I feel the price at around £13 is a little high and would like to see this at closer to £10 or slightly less. My top tip is to apply as little of the product as you can whilst covering the effected area fully, with a further application of the product if required after a little longer than the specified period, so as to make sure you avoid any skin peeling later on.
Summary: Works with some limitations
