Advantages: Lovely to use and keeps my skin in nice condition
Disadvantages: ----------
I have been using Dermalogica's Conditioning Body Wash for some time now; mainly due to its moisturising properties on my dry and damaged skin, but also because I don't buy many cosmetics so it's nice to use something from the more premium end of the market. I usually purchase the 237ml pump action bottle which I pay around £20 for, there are several different sizes available including a very small travel size version which is ideal if you would like to try the product before buying the larger one.
This is a creamy cleanser, soap free so as to be kind to dry and problematic skin such as mine. You only need a very small amount to cleanse your entire body, making this a more economical cleanser than you may initially think - I bought my latest bottle at the beginning of July and despite using it almost every day there is still half a bottle left.
The scent of this cleanser is very nice; I am unsure how to describe it as there seem to be several different types of fragrance within it. It has an extremely clean, fresh fragrance with a minor floral undercurrent and a hint of citrus. I can also detect Tea Tree oil as I use the cleanser as well as a touch of eucalyptus. These scents all blend to create the type of fragrance you would expect from perhaps Clinique or even Boots Botanicals - I personally like it but I appreciate the fact that a lot of women, particularly younger ladies, want a body cleanser with a 'prettier' scent.
I use the cleanser with a piece of natural sponge and love the soft foam created on my skin with this method. It is a fairly low lathering cleanser but even without lots of bubbles it feels very luxurious and kind to my skin, I'm always impressed by how instantly soft my skin feels while washing with this cleanser and I feel it's surprising just how cleansing it is considering how little I need to use each time. You can also use the cleanser as a bath foam, I haven't tried this myself as I do not have a bathtub but I suspect it would make for a rather special bath.
The reason I have continued to use this Conditioning Body Wash is because it not only helps to keep my itchy eczema at bay, but also soothes any patches that are already causing me problems. It's not a miracle cure and doesn't 'get rid' of damaged skin but the cleanser definitely goes some way towards helping with the itchy and sore feeling that often comes with a flare up of eczema. I have had only good reactions to this cleanser, it is exceedingly moisturising as it has been enriched with such a high quality range of essential oils - I do need a separate moisturiser afterwards but someone with less irritated skin could possibly forego the moisturising stage.
I shall continue to use this wonderful cleanser and fully intend to explore other products in Dermalogica's Conditioning range, it may be a highly priced brand but in my opinion this body cleanser is certainly worth the money.
Summary: An excellent body wash that really lives up to its claims.
