Advantages: A great pick-me-up for your skin, can be used on almost all skin types
Disadvantages: Turns orange and very sensitive skins may want to patch test first
Dermalogica are a well respected salon brand and in my opinion it's well deserved. This mask is one of my favourites from Dermalogica, alongside the Skin hydrating mask ( I have combination skin, prone to break outs. )
I have friends with very, very sensitive skin and they have not liked it, stating that it 'stings' their skin slighty. However, I have used this on many other friends with dry through to oily skin and it's been fine. ( So if you have very sensitive skin I would ALWAYS recommend a patch test with anything new that you use, no matter how gentle it seems or how 'natural' it is. )
Be warned though that this mask turns ORANGE whilst it's doing it's 'job', so you may want to make sure that you won't need to answer the door or you may be accused of a bad fake-tan job gone wrong !!
I use this mask when my skin is playing up. Whether the weather is cold/hot and my skin is reacting, whether I've been a bit under the weather and my skin needs a boost etc and it seems to soothe and calm my skin. But the mask has many other properties and benefits.
This masque contains the likes of licorice which is excellent for pigmentation ( Dermalogica also use this in their 'Night Bright'. )
Vitamin A ( excellent for resurfacing with other anti-aging properties )
Vitamin C as a defence against anti-oxidants.
Vitamin E and Pro-Vitamin B5 to promote healthy tissue regeneration.
Beta Glucan to soothe irritated skin and enhance moisture barrier properties.
Algae Extract moisturizes and softens skin.
How to use :
I always recommend exfoliating first for improved results. I would use something gentle like Liz Earle's Exfoliator, Gatineau's Electelle Oxygenating Exfoliator or Dermalogica's Daily Microfoliant because the mask contains Vitamin A which will help with the skin renewal process as well.
Then, apply a generous amount to the face and neck. DO NOT USE AROUND THE EYES !! For around the eyes Decleor and Elemis do some fantastic eye masks or try Gatineau's Futur plus mask or Dermalogica's Skin hydrating mask which are fine to use around the eye area.
Allow the mask to set for 10-15 minutes.
Gently rinse with warm water ( I ALWAYS remove my masks with a wet/warm muslin cloth first !! Then rinse )
Use once a week or as and when your skin needs a boost.
