Advantages: An instant pick me up for your skin; firms skin; boots radiance; moisturises; minimises pores

Disadvantages: Absolutely none

I first became aware of Dermalogica's Multivitamin Power Recovery Masque through hearing about it constantly in beauty magazines with numerous celebrities quoting it as their "must have" product for when their skin was looking dull and they had been overdoing it with the constant partying. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not a party girl, but as an aspiring opera singer I work hard at my day job and then spend most nights and weekends at rehearsals or lessons, so I tend to run myself to a pretty tight schedule leaving not much time for relaxing. All of this takes its toll on my skin and last April, when I was in the middle of a show run, my skin looked particularly tired and dull. This was when I decided to bite the bullet and invest in the Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Recovery Masque.

Dermalogica are not my usual type of skincare/cosmetic company - to quote from their website: "Dermalogica is founded on the belief that good skin care is not about pampering or luxury...any more than brushing your teeth or washing your hair is! Call us no-nonsense, but we believe that consumers want results, not frilly packaging or overblown hype. And we've found that consumers and leading skin care professionals alike in over 40 countries agree!" Now I like my products to be much more about pampering so this "basic" philosophy didn't really grab me. However, I am now about to eat my words...!

This masque is for anyone with tired looking skin, ageing skin, skin affected by bad weather or damaged skin. A powerful masque of concentrated vitamins A, C, E and F to help skin recover from damage that leads to skin aging and tired looking skin while enhancing barrier properties and promoting healthy tissue regeneration. Vitamin A helps increase elasticity and moisture content while antioxidant vitamins C and E help shield skin from free radicals. Nutrient-rich Algae Extract helps moisturize and soften skin, and Pro-Vitamin B5 helps promote restoration of damaged skin while botanical extracts of Licorice, Comfrey and Burdock soothe, calm and help decrease sensitivity. All of these little goodies work together to brighten your skin and restore it to full health.

The masque comes in a silver "toothpaste" style tube - very practical for this type of consistency as it means you really can squeeze every little bit out. The consistency is really thick and creamy and is peach in colour. It has a slight lemony smell to it, although there are no colours or fragrances added to the product.

To use, you simply need to smooth a thick layer of the masque onto your face and then wait for 10-15 minutes while the vitamins and minerals do their stuff. As your skin absorbs the goodies, the masque turns a bit orange in colour which is how you know when it's time to remove it. To remove it you just need to rinse your face with warm water and gently pat dry with a towel.

The results this achieves really are outstanding. It left my skin feeling fresh, firmer, more toned, moisturised, with my pores looking minimised and a generally healthy glow. The firming effect it had on my skin was particularly impressive (I am in my mid 20s) and from the superb effects it had on me I'm sure this would be a fantastic anti-aging product. I find with some masques that I need to avoid using them if I am suffering from any redness or blemishes as they can irritate, but this is really calming and soothing on any irritated patches.

I bought this for £22 from HQhair.com and I can honestly say it's been worth every penny. This is as close as I have come to finding a miracle skin cure in a tube - if it gives results like these, I can forgive Dermalogica for their lack of fancy packaging!

Summary: A masque for tired, dull, stressed skin
