Although I am 25 I still do get outbreaks of blemishes. The worst areas for me are on my nose and chin, aswell as my back and especially the neck area. The Dermalogica Overnight Clearing Gel is a product designed for adults with the same problems as me. The gel is specially formulated to clear dead skin cells and impurities such as dirt and oil from the surface of the skin. The product carries the claim that it purifies the skin, thus preventing new blemishes and blackheads from forming. The gel is also designed to improve your skin by treating existing blemishes through keeping your skin free of excess oils and bacteria.

The gel isn't cheap, costing around £25-£30 for a 50ml bottle. I don't know enough about the ingredients list to give a personal experience of each one, but the benefits of the tea tree oil contained within this gel are simple. Tea tree oil frequently appears in such products due to its ability to heal and soothe skin irritations. Outbreaks often feature sore and red skin, tea tree oil is therefore a key active ingredient in spot treatment products.

The gel doesn't have a strong artificial or chemical smell like a lot of these products sometimes have. The scent is quite relaxing at night, with just a whiff of rosemary and lavender. The gel isn't too thick, so it can be spread on the skin quite easily, but I wouldn't say it is too runny either! The consistency is just right, I think.

Application of the Dermalogica Overnight Clearing Gel couldnt be simpler really. By applying a thin layer of the gel onto the key areas of my face and neck. I apply it directly from the bottle and ensure my skin is clean beforehand by using a good facial cleanser beforehand. In the morning I simply wash away the coating on my skin during my shower and just use shower gel and water to do this.

The typical Dermalogica branding is present with this Overnight Clearing Gel, the trademark white bottle and simple Dermalogica wording ensure it stands out. I wouldn't say this product is aimed at the Male or Female market inparticular and would definately suggest it can be used by both sexes.

Results are what matters with such a product, and the Dermalogica Overnight Clearing Gel has given me some fantastic results on occassion. Generally I find spots can take a while to clear, so I think the results are dependant upon a number of factors. I use this gel in my daily skincare routine, but at this price I wouldn't be able to say with any real confidence that it will absolutely be the solution to all your problems. As part of a good skincare regime I would say it helps with a 24hour protection against outbreaks.
