Advantages: Rich lather, soap-free, a cleanser in bar form.
Disadvantages: Price.
Having used Dermalogica products for a number of years now I eventually got round to trying their 'The Bar'. I do a lot of shopping online and I find such products as these a little cheaper online, so it is worth shopping around for the best deal. I paid around £14 online a while back, but there are always price changes and better deals around, so this is just a guide as to what to expect to pay.
The packaging is typical Dermalogica, 'The Bar' being wrapped in grey paper and simply 'The Bar' written on it, alongside the Dermalogica logo. I think the packaging is quite smart and has a clean look about it. The 142g size means this will last a good few months. Personally it has lasted me 3 months and there is still a small amount left. The bar itself just carries the Dermalogica logo on it and the colour can only be described as off-white.
Use of 'The Bar' is pretty straightforward, just using it to wash your body like you would a bar of soap. 'The Bar' gives a rich lather and lathers up well on my body, I then simply rinse it off. I am left with cleaner feeling skin and also much smoother. You may be wondering why I spent £14 on a bar of soap, but this is not just any bar of soap!
Although 'The Bar' looks and acts like a bar of soap, Dermalogica market it as a Dermalogica Cleanser in bar form. Something very significant for myself is that 'The Bar' is soap-free. I don't have a terrible reaction to soap, but it does make me sneeze for a while during and after use, so it is nice touch and means my experience is much more pleasant.
My skin feels incredibly smooth and soft after using 'The Bar' and cannot say I have anything negative to say about this product. I do like Dermalogica products a lot, though, but I am most impressed yet again. One key ingredient is Tea Tree Oil, which is used in a lot of skincare products and is useful for those suffering from acne-prone skin. The natural antiseptic found in Tea Tree Oil makes this an ideal product for those with acne and can be abblied to your back aswell, something you may not usually do with a face-wash.
If you have sensitive or gentle skin then that is no problem and I have found my skin much softer and also feeling calmer after use. Let Dermalogica look after your skin with 'The Bar'. The only clear downside is the price, but once you notice the results of using this product you will disregard this concern.
Summary: Long-lasting and worthwhile skincare product.
