Advantages: Hydrating. moisturising, non-greasy, effective ingredients.
Disadvantages: It being quite pricey is the only negative issue I can think of.
I've not long reviewed the conditioning body wash from Dermalogica and since I use them in along side each other I thought it best to review this too. The body wash always makes my skin feel wonderfully conditioned but I would never go without a body concentrate or body cream afterwards.
This body cream really is ultra rich and yet it never feels greasy !! My daughter for example who has exczema loves using this or the Elemis milk bath as her body treatment, so it suits all skin types.
*Who is this for ? *
Everyone with skin !! Even those with oilier skin types on their faces tend to have a need for a rich body cream !! This would suit dry skin types and very dry skin types too. However, it's not too thick and greasy if you are used to using a hydrating body concentrate and wish to continue to layer that underneath if you have VERY dry skin problems.
*How to use*
If you like to use a body concentrate ( i.e a body serum type product that targets certain skin issues ) then I would use this cream after that to help lock in the ingredients. That said, this is ultra rich enough to be moisturising in its own right.
I prefer to towel dry before using this particular cream, so if you're used to using a body oil ( such as Monoi moisture melt from Elemis ) that is applied onto damp skin, then I would alter your habit and wait until your skin is a little drier. If you're in a rush then there's no problem adding it to damp skin but in my opinion it takes away some of the richness of the cream by adding it onto damp skin. But each to their own and see what's best for you.
*Why this works*
Two of my personal favourite hydrating and moisturising ingredients are in this body cream. Hyaluronic Acid amd Shea Butter. ( Please note that Shea butter is produced from the oil from the Shea nut. It's not known thus far to cause any problems for people with nut allergies but best to make note of this anyway. ) Hyaluronic Acid is an ingredient that is capable of holding 1000 times its own weight in water, which makes it a wonderfully hydrating ingredient and wonderful to find in a body product. Shea butter is wonderfully moisturising on the skin whilst thought to have healing and rejuventating properties on the skin also.
On top of those it also contains forms of Vitamin E , Evening Primrose oil and Vitamin B5 all of which moisturise, hydrate and help protect the skin.
