Asda Assorted Jam Tarts
by missbex666
Everybody likes a jam tart, well thats mostly true and i have to say i do like a jam tart and i normally make my own however when i was in asdas this week that jam tarts were on offer at only 50p which is a pretty good saving as there normally 78p
The packaging in the picture isnt the same as whats in my store it just a ... plastic wrap over the jam tarts but i havent noticed that thay are changing the all the asda brand packaging so maybe we are just a little behind
the presentation of the jam tarts is ok they come in tinfoil cases and are stacked in 3 piles of 2 which a card insert am guessing this is to stop them from sticking in the pack i believe this is the same way mr kipling present there jam tarts apart that they have a box and not a packet
taste - the jam tarts were nice ( not like home made but still nice ) the pastry was very nice it was crumblely texture and a golden colour the jam was ok i didnt think it had much flavour but thats personal taste i also think that there could have been a little more jam, there was only a little layer of it
over all though i think these are a good buy and great for a treat for the kids. i dont think there worth the full price but on offer i would buy them again
the lemon ones are really nice :) Read the complete review |

Asda Smart Price Instant Custard Mix
by harry2010
This is lovely, thick, sweet yellow custard. Delicious on your suet pud!
All that needs to be done to prepare it is add boiling water, you can as much or as little as you like depending on the consistancy you prefer but the instructions recommend 425 ml which to me seems to make it a wee bit runny. Then stir it untill all the powder ... has been mixed in. The packet states that it serves 3, but i would say it is more likely to serve two. The packets design is simple which is to be expected as it is a no frill item. Its an amazing price of 13p was 6p though, which is amazing value and has a great shelf life of approx 2 years from purchase so if you do a food storage this is an ideal item. You get 70g in a packet and even though it is a smart price product still comes with the asda promise try me, love me. If you are not happy return for a full refund. Do be aware this is a milk based product so any lactose allergies and you should double check before trying. The calerie content is 68 cal per 100g and fat is 1.8g per 100g. Asda Smart Price Chocolate Mousse
by xxfoxyredxx
The other night I spotted these in my local Asda store and having not had them in a while decided to get some in as a little treat to myself
The Packaging:
Well the mousses come in a white plastic pots and have light green and white plastic peel off lids to the top of them and spread over the lids we are told that ... they are Asda 'Smart Price' 4 Chocolate Mousse, ingredients, allergy advice, weight (240g) and contact details for Asda are given. Cheap looking packaging this is but the pots snap apart with ease and the labeling is informative enough too.
The Mousse Itself:
Light brown and with little air bubbles within them they smell of milky chocolate as well as looking it and are set.
Made with skimmed milk, cream, sugar and containing 3% chocolate these are absolutely lovely and real value for your 26p (for 4 pots containing 60g of mousse in each). They are light, chocolaty and not too sweet and any sweetness they do have is given by sugar however they do contain pork gelatine so they are not suitable for Vegetarians.
Luxurious, cheap and light I really do heartily recommend these!
