Carte D'or Caramel Cinnamon Waffle
by annie47
I absolutely love ice cream; it was a real treat when I went to Italy earlier this year with my sister and she was determined to get me to eat some Italian Ice cream. It didn't take much persuading!!
I like all sorts of ice cream but unfortunately it is fattening. Also its Moorish; usually a normal size portion isn't enough ... for me!
I often look out for bargains when it comes to the more expensive ice creams and it is very rare for me to buy them unless they are on special offer. However, it was my boyfriend who spotted this Caramel Cinnamon Waffle Ice Cream. It looked delicious and I love Cinnamon so he bought it. This would usually cost about £3.50 which I think is way too expensive; Unfortunately I cannot remember which supermarket we bought it from but it was half price!!
I must say I am impressed with this ice cream; you can really taste the Cinnamon in it and the caramel part of the ice cream is delicious too. On the top of it there are small waffle pieces. I have not tasted Ice cream before like this in the UK. I don't know how long this one has been available but it is definitely on the top of my favourite ice creams list now! If you prefer a slightly less sweet ice cream then this will not be for you; it is very sweet, and I think if you had a lot of it, you may find it a little sickly. In the case of this ice cream; its good for me as I don't eat too much of it in one go!!

Carte D'Or Chocolate Inspiration
by cazkins
I love ice-cream regardless of the weather, and Carte D'Or has always struck me as a bit of a special ice-cream, reserved for particular occasions. Whilst it's not something that I buy often, it's a brand I trust to produce high quality treats and you can often find them on offer in the supermarkets.
This product is described ... as being : Chocolate ice cream made with dark choc pieces (19%, made with 70% cocoa from Equador), vanilla ice cream containing choc pieces, swirled & topped with choc sauce (19%) with a sprinkle of dark choc. I probably should have read this before picking it up, but I was in a rush and it was on offer, and I presumed at first it would be regular chocolate. Not being too great a fan of the dark stuff, this ice-cream wasn't to my taste enough to want to buy it again necessarily because I find the flavour a bit bitter.
On the top it say 110calories per 2 scoops, but how big, or should I probably say small, a scoop is I wasn't not sure. On the underside it tells us that it's actually 100ml, which contains 5g fat. The tub is 900ml (500g). Considering its addictive appeal to fans of dark chocolate in particular, it's perhaps not an ice-cream I'd buy regularly, especially given its usual price.
Having said that, it's well presented and looks very pretty with the swirls of chocolate sauce and chocolate pieces. I bought this when it was on offer at £1.50 I believe, with its usual RRP being just a little over £3. It's still cheaper than Ben & Jerry's and has a sense of high quality about it, so it's purely the dark chocolate flavour that I'm being negative about. The ice-cream itself was creamy and sweet, and it didn't take too long after coming out of the freezer to become a little more velvety (compared to frozen solid).
Overall, this is a flavourful ice-cream that I'm sure will bring a smile to most fans of dark chocolate. Whilst it wasn't really for me, it has that sense of specialness that makes it a tasty indulgence on your own whilst also being good to share (if you're feeling generous enough)!
RRP usually £3-4.00. Read the complete review |

Carte D'Or Chocolate Inspiration
by WackoStepho
Yes my dears, I am an ice cream addict so I shall be indulging you today with yet another review - this time on Carte D'Or Chocolate Inspiration ice cream. Even the name is enough to get your tastebuds going eh?
Well, where do I start? This certainly is a luxury ice cream! Chocolate Inspiration is a rich chocolate ice cream, ... a heavenly vanilla ice cream and a divine chocolate sauce all swirled together in one tub of lovelyness complete with dark chocolate pieces scattered on the top, mmmmm! You're probably thinking that this is one fattening desert and that if you so much as look at it you'll gain half a stone - wrong! Per 100ml serving which is around 2 average scoops there is only 110 calories! It's quite slimming really, honest!
The taste of this ice cream is just fabulous, the chocolate is rich tasting and not insipid like some value brands. The dark chocolate pieces make a scrumptious contrast to the smooth and delicious ice cream, you'll want to eat the whole tub it's that yummy! I love how you get a good mix of everything in this ice cream as the chocolate sauce runs all the way through and it's not just blocks of chocolate or vanilla ice cream either, they are intertwined meaning you get all the flavours with every mouth full.
You're probably wondering what on earth they put in this ice cream to make it so delectable, here are the ingredients: Reconstituted skimmed milk, sugar, water, glucose-fructose syrup, vegetable fat, fat reduced cocoa powder, whey solids, cocoa mass from Ecuador (2.5%), cocoa mass, emulsifier (mono- and di-glycerides of fatty acids, ammonium phosphatides), stabilisers (locust bean gum, guar gum, carrageenan), flavourings. They don't sound all that appetizing but they sure make for gorgeous ice cream.
If you are a chocolate lover or an ice cream lover or are just fond of eating nice things then I'd say go out and treat yourself by buying some of this. You can usually buy it for around £2.99 but according to mySupermarket, Asda have it on offer at just £1.48! A tasty bargain that won't blow your budget. :) Read the complete review |
