Muller Light Toffee yoghurt
by haco
I've tried a fair few of these Muller light yoghurts and I've got to say that the toffee one probably isn't one of the best. In my opinion, the mandarin and the raspberry ones are probably nicest as the fruit balances well with the slightly tangy taste of the yoghurt.
These yoghurts are normally around 40-50p each and you can ... buy them individually or in multipacks with different flavours. In supermarkets they usually have a couple of different fruit selections and a selection with the vanilla and toffee flavours. The size of the pot is quite large for the money you're paying and the yoghurt itself is always quite filling.
When you open the foil of the yoghurt, you are first met by a very watery mess inside the pot. Once it's been mixed a little, it thickens up a treat and it's much more appealing. I think that the toffee flavour is quite artificial, and tastes more like a vanilla/caramel flavour instead. I was quite disappointed by the flavour as the fruit ones are always so lovely. Another disappointment came from looking at the nutritional information. The yoghurt was low in calories - no surprise there. The real surprise came from the huge amount of sugar present in the yogurt. This surprised me because the yoghurts are already quite sweet and they could probably get away with using half as much as they actually do.
In an age where we are all concerned about what foods we consume, it seems ridiculous that they would pack so much crap into these and still market them as 'health foods'. I don't know whether it says more about their shameless marketing or our willingness to buy what's put in front of us. Even though I love the fruity yoghurts, after becoming aware of the amount of sugar present in these, I will certainly be trying to limit the number of these I consume. Read the complete review |

Muller Little Stars Jelly
by torytoria
I bought these for my children, aged 4 and 2 as a healthy ish pudding. They are made from real fruit juice and have no artificial flavours and colourings in them so they seemed ideal for little ones.
The packs of 6 contain 3 flavours, orange, strawberry and blackcurrant and are usually on offer in Sainsbury for 2 for £2 which is ... good value for twelve puddings in my opinion.
They smell very strong when you take the lid off, a bit like undiluted squash, however this does not put the children off! On the contrary, the love the fruity flavours and always ask for jelly for pudding now.
The pots are just the right size for children of this age and can be put in the lunchbox for later in the day without suffering too much. I don't eat jelly myself but have had good reports on taste from children and husband and I'm happy with the ingredients so these are a regular in our trolley! Read the complete review |

Muller Amore Strawberry Yoghurt
by star3683
I do like yogurts but tend to go through stages of eating them. Although I like most flavours of yogurt, one of my favourites is strawberry and when shopping in Asda a few days ago spotted the Muller amore yogurts on special offer and opted to purchase one of the strawberry ones as they looked like quite a nice luxury yogurt compared to ... the standard ones that I tend to buy.
As stated I purchased this yogurt from asda and it was on a special offer price of £0.50 for an individual 150g pot. Personally I think many people might still find this quite expensive for a single yogurt but they are more luxurious than standard yogurts so are more of a treat than an everyday eat.
The amore yogurts come in a navy blue, round, plastic pot with foil peelable lid. On the lid is the muller logo with the name 'amore' which has a little heart above it and a picture of a lovely ripe strawberry half dipped into cream. It describes the yogurt as being 'thick and creamy'. On the side of the pot you can find full ingredients listings, nutritional information and storage instructions.
This strawberry yogurt as I stated before is quite a luxury product and is made with cream which gives it a lovely rich taste but it obviously increases the calorific and fat content. Each pot contains 150g but the nutritional information on the pot is per 100g, which I think is a little misleading if you do not realise that the pot its actually 150g. So 100g of the yogurt contains the following:
Calories - 144kcal
Protein - 2.6g
Carbohydrate - 17.0g
Fat - 7.3g
Calcium - 92mg (17% of RDA per pot)
When I opened the yogurt I found that it had quite a subtle sweet strawberry fragrance. It was pale pink in colour but not in any way artificial looking and I could see flecks of strawberry pieces mixed into the thick, creamy looking yogurt. After looking at the ingredients listings it states that the yogurt contains 11% strawberries and beetroot juice for colouring. It was nice to know that there was a good amount of fruit in the yogurt and that it contained natural a natural colouring.
As far as the taste goes I found this yogurt to be very nice indeed. It had a thick consistency and tasted very luxurious. The contents of the whipped cream certainly give it richness and you could taste the delicate strawberry flavour coming through. There were little bits of strawberry spread throughout the yogurt which I found to be very nice although I know a lot of people who are a little fussy about things with bits in but personally I like this as it makes tastier. I would not eat these yogurts everyday but to me they make a nice alternative to a dessert as they are still quite light and don't leave you feeling over full as you can get with a stodgy pudding. I would certainly recommend this Muller strawberry amore yogurt as it has a lovely taste and I cannot wait to try some of the other flavours in the range. Read the complete review |
