Advantages: Don't have bitter soya taste

Disadvantages: None

Since developing a gluten and dairy intolerance early last year, I have had to give up a lot of my favourite foods. I was particularly disappointed at having to give up my favourite daily activia yoghurt! I tried to substitute this with standard soya-based yoghurts (including alpro-soyas own). However, I really dislike the bitter taste and aftertaste that soya loves you with and therefore did not enjoy these. When I came across these desserts in the gluten-free aisle I thought I would give them a try as they were on special offer for only £1 in Asda. When tasting these deserts I was surprised at how chocolatey (and not at all soya-like) they taste. These deserts come in four flavours: smooth chocolate, dark chocolate, vanilla and caramel. The chocolate ones are by far my favourite however I enjoy all of the flavours. They have been on offer at Asda at £1 for 4 for a very long time - and are very good value at that price!

As the deserts only have around 100-110 calories in, they are also a good option for a treat whilst on a diet. The deserts are also long-life (usually kept on the gluten-free aisle in supermarkets) and so are perfect if you are going away somewhere and want to take some dairy-free deserts with you!

Summary: Tasty dairy-free alternative for dessert
