      Very helpful

So so but nothing to get excited about!

I absolutely love fruity desserts topped with cream. I try to limit myself as much as possible mind you though the other day when I spotted this Bramley Apple Crumble in Asda costing only a pound a box I was simply not able to pass it by!

      The Packaging:

The apple crumble comes in a round silver foil tray within a green and black box and on the front of it there is a photograph of it and we are told that it is Asda 'Chosen By You', Teatime Treat Bramely Apple Crumble 'Rich shortcrust pastry with a sweet apple filling. Topped with an oaty crumble' and that it weighs 315g and is suitable for Vegetarians. Other information listed on the box includes ingredients and allergy advice being listed as well as a nutritional chart shown and contact details for Asda are listed. Simple box but informative enough and easy enough to open and close and this isn't suitable for freezing by the way.

      The Apple Crumble:

When I purchased this I was expecting a dessert that needed to be oven baked however this is more of a thin cake, to be served cold (though Asda do sell other apple crumbles). What you get of course is a golden coloured shortcrust base which is just that really and not too sweet and robust enough to hold itself together although there is rather alot of light green, thickish apple sauce over that. I can only describe it as sauce really cos I really did struggle to find any small chunks of apple within it but when I did they were cooked though well enough. The oaty crumble was thick over that, golden in colour and not too sweet as the apple sauce was (although even that was naturally sweet to be fair to it) however I found this really hard on my teeth.

This isn't a bad looking offering. It tastes ok apart from the lack of apples in it and that oat topping being a little too hard for my liking though. It was simply ok and for a quid not awful!
