Advantages: VERY VERY VERY nice :o)
Disadvantages: Calories!!!
Oh My God!!! This is GORGEOUS!!!! I bought this gateau to serve for pudding last Christmas. I really love profiteroles (who doesn't?!?) so thought this would go down well with everyone and as it only cost £4 I really couldn't resist!
The gateau is basically a sponge base topped with lots and lots of lovely cream filled profiteroles which are held together with a gorgeously chocolatey mousse and topped with chocolate sauce and chocolate curls. There is also more chocolate mousse around the outside of the gateau.
The gateau is large and weighs 1kg so should easily feed even a large family - even my greedy lot (6 adults and 1 child) managed to have a good portion each and there was still some leftover! It's surprisingly not sickly at all - despite there being a lot of chocolate and cream in this it still seems to stay quite light and you do feel that you could completely overindulge by very easily having 'just one more piece'!!
I do have to add that my one problem with the gateau is that, as a generous host, I also made my own 'Clootie Dumpling' for pudding last Christmas too which, although usually popular, was completely ignored when everyone had the choice between it and the big chocolatey profiterole thingy! This year I think we'll stick with the gateau since it's apparently more popular....I might even buy two...yum!
Summary: Very yummy and very good value!
