“ Brand: Asda / Type: Ice Cream „
Totally rubbish ice-cream. The 2 previous reviews were clearly written by Asda employees - and in fact one of the reviews can be found on another site posted under another profile. This ice cream was a total disappointment. It is basically a neopolitana chocolate and vanilla flavour with barely any biscuit or marshmallow. It tastes like a cheap tub of ice cream, and looks nothing like the picture on the label. I will be complaining to the Asda customer service.
Asda Extra Special range of ice creams are exactly that! Whatever flavour you choose you are in for a treat. They give expensive varieties such as Hagen Daaz and Ben and Jerries a run for their money. In fact with their Extra Special Rocky Road ice cream, I think they beat all the leading manufacturers. Have you ever tried a rocky road cake? If not, don't. They are delicious but so bad for you and once you've had one you wake up in the night in a cold sweat just needing one! They are a mixture of chocolate, biscuit, caramel, marshmallow, fudge and anything else gorgeous they can think of! With this ice cream you get all that sweet yummy fun broken up into little pieces amid ice cream. the ice cream is really smooth and delicious as well. All in all it is an excellent combination. Try to serve it into bowls and not eat from the tub otherwise you will eat it all and I guarantee you will feel ill afterwards! It's be worth it though! If you do not want to feel guilty, look away now. I am about to write the nutritional blurb... Per 1/10 of a tub - 136kcal 2.3g protein 16.3g carbohydrates 13.9g of which sugars 6.8g fat 4.3g of which saturates. But it is soooooo good!
Ok, as a self confessed "pig", I am always more than eager to review products that involve me eating them, this next product was my last tub of "research!". The product I will now review is "Asda's extra special rocky road ice-cream". The tub the ice-cream comes in is a 1 litre plastic tub with the colour scheme being beiges and taupe's, ok sounds boring doesn't it, it in fact gives a very stylish effect to the product and as this is part of the "extra special" range I assume that is the desired effect. Down the side is the extra special logo, and across the top is the name of the product with a brief description of the ice-cream. This tub, as with most of the other flavours in this range comes with a lift off plastic lid, the bonus with this is the fact it is resealable, this is not something I usually have to worry about, as my ice-cream usually goes in one sitting! After breaking off the tab that holds the lid on tight, then removing the lid you will see the ice-cream. At first glance the ice-cream is half and half vanilla and chocolate, but when you take your first spoonful you will realise it's so much more! The ice-cream is indeed chocolate but the white ice-cream is marshmallow flavour, not only does this contain marshmallow flavour but also tiny pink marshmallows throughout the entire tub. Also threaded through this delicious dessert are crunchy chocolate digestive pieces and finally these are all melded together with a smooth chocolate sauce. This pudding holds such a variety of flavours and also textures, the sweetness of the chocolate with slightly tangy taste of the marshmallows, also the crunchiness of the biscuit pieces and chewiness of the marshmallow pieces is a little weird to start of with, but is a sensation you soon get used to! This is of course not going to be good for you, but as long as you eat healthily and have these sort of desserts as an occasional treat you should be fine! Per 1/10 of a tub - 136kcal 2.3g protein 16.3g carbohydrates 13.9g of which sugars 6.8g fat 4.3g of which saturates. I am not even going to attempt to work out the weight watchers points value, as I may cry, needless to say this should be treated as a very occasional treat! These are actually on offer at the moment from Asda, these tubs are all available for the price of £2.00 each, there a lot of flavours you can choose from, they range from rocky road through to lemon sorbet, there is even butterscotch crunch one that is new to the range, and yes it is sitting in my freezer and no it won't be there for much longer! These in my opinion are as nice, if not nicer than some of the more expensive and exclusive brands that are available, there is a much more diverse range available also, there is always something for everyone, my husband is more of a fruit lover but has his eye on the butterscotch one, I get the feeling I may have to share!!
