“ Brand: Asda / Type: Yoghurts „
Firstly apologies for the picture, my suggestion / title certainly doesnt mention 'Madagascan' as the picture suggests. Asda low fat totally vanilla yoghurt can be bought in Asda for £1 for 3 pots. They are in card pots rather than the plastic which always makes me feel a bit posher !! (Yes, I just may have the cup-a-soup in a bowl syndrome!!)Its worth a quick mention here that the card is not currently recycled. Peel back the lid and so far all is good - A card pot, beautiful creamy white yogurt and black vanilla specs. Unfortunately thats as good as it gets and from here things commence their downhill slide. On tasting the yoghurt I was curious and had to visit the bin to re-check the date on the lid as there was a real sharp tang to it. It was well in date but not willing to take any chances I threw it away and fetched the next pot from the fridge. .. Just the same ! If I was taste testing this blind I would say it was lemon flavour. On closer inspection of the pot I read the added ingredients : water, sugar, fructose, rice starch, natural flavouring, concentrayed lemon juice, vanilla powder. Well there was my answer! - Asda Vanilla yoghurt contains only vanilla powder but actual concentrated lemon juice!...And that made me think what on earth were the black specs then?! The lemon taste is a bit too strong for my liking and a total shock to the taste buds when youre expecting a sweeter vanilla taste. Each pot contains approximately 140 cal which is somewhat higher than leading brand low fat yoghurt so for the reasons mentioned I wont buy these again. I shall remain loyal to muller light and for those real special occassions my all time favourite M & S!
