This flavour is a lot of peoples favourite in the ben and jerrys collection. It's not mine, but I did like it.
Ben and Jerry's is a high standard and high priced ice cream created by two people, you guessed it...Ben and Jerry! There are several flavours which normally means that there is something for everyone.
Ben and Jerry's can be purchased in most supermarkets and they also have their own shops in some shopping centres. Another place that Ben and Jerry's counters can be found is in the cinema, as the ice cream is very popular.
Ben and Jerry's is probably the best ice cream out there, it tastes so nice and just unlike any other. This isn't my favourite because there are others that are just brilliant, but I do like this one! This flavour ice cream consists of vanilla ice cream mixed with chunks of chocolate chip cookie dough. It is quite rich but extremely tasty and isn't too sickly either, keep in mind though that it may be sickly if you have too much!
A normal sized tub of this ice cream is around 500ml in size and doesn't last long, it normally costs around £4.00 from the supermarket but is on offer a lot of the time for around the £2-£2.50 mark. Purchasing the ice cream from one of their shops in the shopping centre or cinema will cost a lot more but is only meant for the use during your visit and not to take home.
Overall I rate this ice cream 4/5 because it tastes so nice, the only problem though is that it costs so much. I would recommend this ice cream but only as a treat every now and again.
I found that my local supermarket was doing an offer on Ben and Jerry's Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Light ice cream so decided to give it a try. The normal price of nearly £4 was a price i was not willing to pay for such a small tub of ice cream.
As i have mentioned the tub was extremely small and once opened the ice cream was quite low down in the tub which annoyed me a bit. I found it really hard to push my spoon through the top layer of the ice cream; it felt like the metal spoon was bending!
Once I put it into my mouth I was pleasantly surprised by the nice taste, it was quite chewy but overall had a nice flavour. After a few mouthfuls I started to feel quite sick so did not eat anymore. After a week of eating small amounts, due to the sickening taste and the hardness of the ice cream, I gave up and threw the rest of the tub away.
Overall I was disappointed with the product and was glad that I did not pay full price for it.
Ben and Jerry's really is the king of luxury ice cream brands and personally this is my favourite flavour. I have yet to find the low fat version anywhere but as im currently on the weight watchers plan I would be overjoyed to do so as a scoop of the normal stuff is about 3.5 points!
Despite the calories, this really is the treat food to end all treat food, the chunks of cookie dough taste exactly how they should, recreating the naughty feeling of stealing uncooked dough out of the bowl when your mom used to bake them. The chunks are a very generous size too and a tub always seems to have plenty to go around.
The lovely thing about Ben and Jerry's is that they are a company with a real sense of corporate social responsibilty and they do try their best to use fair trade ingredients and support sustainability of the rainforests etc, if you are going to indulge in premium ice cream then at least you can feel that you can make a socially conscious decision at the same time.
Oh my God I love Ben and Jerry's!!!!! I was in my local supermarket the other night and spied a special offer on Ben and Jerry's. Only £2 for a 500ml tub - I was in heaven!!!!!
I opted to get 2 tubs of chocolate chip cookie dough, 1 low fat and 1 regular.
The ice cream looks (and is essentially) the same in both tubs. It is a lovely creamy vanilla ice cream with pieces of uncooked cookie dough swirled generously through it.
The cookie dough is the same stuff you can buy in supermarkets in the U.S.A it is like a big sausage of dough that is just sliced up and added to the ice cream.
The ice cream in the regular tub was very rich and creamy and it complimented the cookie dough extremely well. The low fat version was less creamy but still a totally divine experience.!!!
The disadvantage to Ben and Jerry's is the price - it is normally around £4 for a 500ml tub so it is a real luxury, if you can find it on special offer grab it quick as it won't last long.
After going on holiday I decided that I needed to get back to eating healthily after eating too much rubbish. So in Tesco I bought salad, low fat crisps, fruit and Ben and Jerry's Cookie Dough ice cream. The latter was due to my daughter seeing it on offer and discretely placing it in under the crisps! At first I said I wasn't going to have any but when I saw her eating a bowl, I knew I just had to have a taste.
Ben and Jerry's ice cream is quite a luxury for us as we never usually buy ice cream and this one is usually quite expensive. It is a brand which has quite a few flavours of ice cream with interesting names such as Phish food and Chunky Monkey. They come in smallish tubs such as 500ml which doesn't go very far, it only gives around 6 servings of ice cream.
The look of the cookie dough is of typical ice cream, it looks delicious and creamy but then it also has the treat of small chocolate bits in it as well as these funny looking blobs of brownish bits which I surmised would be the cookie dough part of the ice cream. Now I absolutely love ice cream but have to admit that it is a one taste treat, but not with this ice cream. The mixing blend of smooth, creamy ice cream along with the chocolate bits adds a nice crunch to the ice cream. But it is the cookie dough bits that make this treat, they have a strange texture to them and the taste is rather odd that I can't really explain in writing. However mixing the dough with the ice cream truly does make this delicious dish in which different flavours create an explosion of taste in your mouth.
So this ice cream sounds like the best doesn't it? Well it is really in my eyes apart from the fact that when it isn't on offer this ice cream is £4 for the 500ml tub which lasts about two days in our house! On offer it is half price and then I don't really mind paying for it as I think a treat every now and again isn't too bad. The calorie content is quite high in these tubs but you can get the light version which is quite so bad for you, but trust me they are hard to find, I have only seen them a couple of times.
Overall it is a lovely ice cream which I would definitely buy again but only at a lower price. It tastes delicious and is very more-is so watch out or else you might be like me the other day when I had the tub in one hand, a spoon in the other where 500ml of ice cream has never disappeared quite so quickly. I better get myself to the gym, but I completely recommend this ice cream to anyone with better self control than me!
ben and jerrys ice cream is priced in the middle range of ice creams and is a fantastic treat or desert for any one who loves ice cream or cookies.
the ice cream it self is very light and creamy tasting and melts in your mouth lovely, the ice cream contains little balls of uncooked cookie dough which adds a great texture to the ice cream as this is a more chewy texture but is sweety tasting and reminded me of when i used to lick the cake bowl as a child, there are chocolate chips in the cookie dough aswell which gives this desert a more sweet chocolatey taste to it.
the mixture of all 3 textures is a very mice change from ordinary ice cream but it does get a bit sickly after a while which is probably a good thing other wise i would eat the whole tub.
This is one of my favorite flavors from Ben and Jerrys and it is just such a wonderful experience when you eat this icecream. You can share it with friends when you have them round you can eat it when you are feeling a bit down or you can eat it when you are watching a movie DVD but whatever the occasion it always leaves a sweet taste in your mouth and puts a smile on your face. There are different flavors that make your tastebuds happy and make you satisfied that you have had some proper icecream.Obviously Chocolate Chip Cookies are a big favorite with lots and lots of people and when it comes in icecream form well it is truly a masterstroke from B & J `s and just another reason why they are so popular and why they are coming up with more great favours like this!Definitely a dessert worth treating yourself to!
Ben and Jerry's ice cream is probably one of the best ice creams in the whole world; they have fantastic flavours which are all incredibly tasty. They also have really clever names to each one of them which makes them more interesting.
Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ice cream is a mixture of two flavours that everyone loves; delicious chocolate chunks, which make the ice have its lumpy chewy texture and cookie dough, which you just cannot get enough of. Once you've got the tub in one hand and an enormous spoon in the other there is no stopping you finishing the whole tub all by yourself. These two flavours go together in an extremely good way that combines to make a perfect tasting ice cream.
This ice cream cost quite a bit more than your ordinary Tesco's ice cream but I'm sure that you would agree that the flavour and texture of this yummy ice cream makes it worth the extra pound or two. You pay around £4 a tub in your local supermarket for a 500ml tub.
As any sweet thing you should try not to eat too much of it!
Seeing a tub of ben and Jerrys on offer at 2 for £5 instead of each tub costing £3.89 persuaded me to buy a tub of ice cream that i would normally walk past very quickly, as the tubs are so small I can never usually justify the guilt of buying something that wont last me very long.
Cookie Dough flavour is basically vanilla ice cream with chunks of chocolate chips and pieces of uncooked dough hidden in-between all that creaminess of the ice cream.
The theory behind this flavour according to the B+J website is that apparently Americans like uncooked dough more than they like the cookies after being cooked. It's been made since 1986 and was the first ever cookie dough ice cream!
My tub of 500ml looks very tiny and I know it's not going to last me too long in the freezer. The tub, made out of cardboard which upon a little bit of research I found that its made of 90% renewable paper stock coated to stop it leaking.
Past experiences have taught me the best way to eat a tub of B+J is to eat it straight from the tub. None of this messing around portioning into bowls. This way you don't realise how much you are eating either!
As the tub comes out of the freezer, it's great to put your spoon around the sides of the tub, getting the little bits of melting ice cream as it starts to defrost against the edges. It's also good to give the tub a bit of a squeeze and see the ice cream ooze over the top of the pot a little bit.
All this before I've even tasted it!
First impressions show that there is a lot of chocolate chip chunks been added, and you can almost guarantee getting one in every spoonful no matter how small. The contrast between the dark chocolate and pure white ice cream is vibrant, and I can't wait to delve in once it's defrosted a bit more.
Settling for scraping across the top of the tub, I get a small portion of just vanilla ice cream. The cold creaminess explodes into my taste buds, as it slides down the back of my throat. B+J really do have vanilla done well. None of this synthetic taste you get from cheaper brands, but instead you can almost taste the full fat cream that is so bad for you the moment it hits your palette.
The chocolate chinks are a good size, usually around a centimetre. It's enough to know you've got something you can bite into rather than a teensy piece of chocolate lost in-between everything else.
Blobs of cookie dough are fewer and farther between, but they are there nestled in-between the ice cream, providing you with a nice chewy texture within the melting mess in your mouth.
As you can imagine all that creaminess cannot be very good for the waistline, and indeed it's not with every 100g providing you with a whopping 14g of fat. I'm not going to spoil you dream of eating this by providing more nutritional information. If you need to know it, it's on the back of the tub and may well deter you from buying when you find yourself in the supermarket later today after reading this.
The only way I have found I can make this last a bit longer and save myself having to buy a bigger size in jeans, is to share share share with your friends or family.
It's a massive treat to have this in my house, and I probably wouldn't buy it at full price unless I really wanted comfort food, but on the half price offer it's definitely worth stocking up while you can.
