Advantages: Very sweet so only need a small portion
Disadvantages: Can be sickly
I took my son out as a treat to Morrison's for lunch today but after sharing a fish and chip dinner there was no room for pudding so we hit the inside of the supermarket to do our top up shop. I spotted a selection of Cadbury creme egg Ice cream products on offer but remembered reading a very positive review on the ice cream tub on Dooyoo and at the price of £2.00 for a one litre tub I decided it was a good treat for home to end off the day. While it is a small tub is square and perfect as I have a very small freezer.
My two year old son does have a strange obsession with eggs anyway but chocolate eggs combined with ice cream are his idea of Heaven. He continually told anyone who would listen in the shop he had chocolate egg ice cream and even on the journey home announced he knew which bowl he should eat it out of.
The box itself is covered with the well know Cadbury creame egg colours and logos. It does claim to be limited edition and describes it as delicious ice cream with goo.
This does contain 150 calories and 5.8g per 100mls which is the equivalent of 62 grams of ice cream.
Contains: milk and may also contain wheat, nuts and eggs.
Unsurprisingly when we got home he was ready for a bowl. After watching Jo Frost on Tuesday I gave him a portion of approximately one Tablespoon as this is the recommended portion size for a child.
I also had a bowl although grabbed the first one I saw and didn't give it much thought and had a slightly bigger portion.
The ice cream is very smooth a creamy and reminds me of the taste of Mr Whippy ice cream. The Ice cream is mixed with swirls of yellow fondant egg and chunks of chocolate. I love the chunks of chocolate in it they seem large enough that you can taste and bite through the chocolate but small enough that you don't end up been overwhelmed by chocolate. I did find the yellow fondant very sweet and needed to make sure I didn't have too much in one mouthful as that then seemed to taste to sickly.
I found that as this was so sweet a small portion was very satisfying and could control any sweet craving.
I recommend this ice cream for anyone with a sweet tooth. I can't see this lasting long in our house. I am very happy with the offer price however I not sure I would pay more.
Summary: A nice chnage
