Cadbury Creme Egg Tub
Advantages: It tastes great
Disadvantages: Its not good for you
This is a new ice cream that has been released quite recently and has found its way onto Supermarket shelves, in its natty red packaging it looks great, it tastes of crème eggs surprisingly enough and is a sticky treat for the whole family, it is a 4 out of 5 ice cream for me, as I found the taste was wonderful and the price not too expensive for a higher end brand of ice cream.
In a natty square plastic container the ice cream really stands out, the box is bright red with a big yellow splat with the words 'Cadbury Crème Egg' inside, there is a picture of the ice cream and a blue wave with some information about how good the ice cream tastes. The container is a good size and fits easily into the freezer, it is practical and provides easy access when scooping the ice cream out, it looks good and stands out in the frozen section where most ice cream brands are a tad bland with their classy white packaging.
The Ice Cream is nice, its not too solid, its easy to scoop and with the wonderfully gooey bits of crème egg, it is a nice gooey, sticky, easy to scoop mix, it is not too hard and doesn't need defrosting and isn't too soft that it just flops on your bowl. It is a perfect consistency held together by the sticky crème egg.
I really liked the taste, it is a nice mix of boring old vanilla and the sticky crème egg, mixing chocolate and the other flavours therein, it tastes of caramel and has a nice mix of soft and sticky. The flavour isn't too sickly and is very moreish, it tastes just like a mix of crème eggs being dropped into a tub of ordinary ice cream. It isn't the kind of Ice cream to mix too well with other tastes and is probably better on its own, but its one of the nicest ice creams I've tasted in a long time.
There are 150 calories for each 100ml serving, for a fatty like me this works out at 300 calories per serving, which is probably about one sixth of my daily calorie intake requirement, but being honest when it tastes this good I don't care. There are also 5.8g of fat per 100g. You would be naive to think a dessert like this could be healthy, its a treat to eat between the endless rounds of crackers and advocado rather than a part of a healthy balanced diet!!
I presume this ice cream is available in all major supermarkets, I've found it in Tesco and Asda in prominent areas of the frozen food sections on offer.
I found this on special offer at £1.99 recently in Tesco, it remains at this price until 12 April in store and online and is also currently £1.99 instore in Asda for a 1 litre tub.
