“ Type: Sorbets & Ice Cream „
Cadbury's is a well known name and one celebrated by chocoholics the world over. So, spotting this icecream whilst doing the shopping, I couldn't resist!
In a one litre container, the tub is a purple colour and is a square shape. It is easy to access the icecream as the top neatly snaps on and off. I like the square shape as it prevents that awkward levering of the icecream out when the tub gets to the last little bit of icecream.
The icecream is a lovely light brown colour and looks delightfully creamy. And on scooping it out easily, I discovered that the icecream is indeed creamy and soft. The icecream has a very nice chocolate taste and there are a good number of square chocolate chunks buried in the icecream. The chunks give it a bit of bite and have that lovely distinctive cadbury taste.
The only problem I have is that after a while, the icecream loses some texture and is icy on the top, which annoys me a bit. Also, it melts quickly and then on being refrozen, can taste a little odd.
I am a huge fan of cadburys confectionary products, in my opinion nothing else even comes close. They are the market leader in most brands that they try. Cadburys dairy milk has a fantastic taste and Cadburys seem to be able to wave that magic wand over everything they do. I was so excited when I saw that thye had started making ice cream, being a huge ice cream fan and a huge Cadburys fan, this seemed like a match made in heaven, and the great thing is, it really was.
The ice cream with its original price mark is quite costly, but luckily because this was new and Tescos were trying to push it they had it on special offer, which bought it down to a more affordable price, but still in the treat catagory, rather than an everyday purchase.
The ice cream comes in a round tub, the pakaging seems papery, but I am still not sure if it is recyclable. The lid is plastic and is fairly easy to peel off, even when it has just come out of the freezer. The tub is traditional Cadburys purple with the Cadbury's logo and the dairy milk sign on the front. To me the dairy milk sign is a mark of luxury and anything that has this on, I just know is going to taste good.
The ice cream itself is dark in colour (hence the chocolate flavour) and is trying to replicate that great dairy milk taste. The great thing is that it does it well. There are thousands of cheap chocolate ice cream alternatives out there, but this one really does taste fantastic. It is creamy and thick, without being rich and too sickly. The huge bonus is that you get little chunks of Cadburys chocolate in it, and they are quite generous with these.
This is definitely worth purchasing when on special offer, oh and when you are not on a diet either!
I purchased a tub of Dairy Milk Ice Cream today as I need some cheering up and wanted something calorific and chocolatey to do just that!
The ice cream comes within a square, purple plastic tub that contains 1 litre of Dairy Milk Ice Cream and when I opened the tub I was met with glorious medium brown coloured chocolate ice cream complete with small chunks of Cadbury's Dairy Milk. Chocolate with chocolate added, what more could a girl ask for?!
The ice cream is lovely and thick but not too hard that I can't scoop it out of the pot easily. I allowed myself a small bowl about 2 hours ago as I want to really enjoy the ice cream to myself over the next few days so trying to be frugal with it to make it last! The chocolate pieces are definitely Cadburys and they taste creamy and delicious and because they are frozen within the ice cream this gives them an even lovelier taste. The ice cream is delicious and one that I will definitely be buying again (especially if on offer like this tub!). It is a luxurious tasting treat and I love the square design of the tub. It's easy to open & I will be keeping it to store food in the freezer in (people will get a shock when they see spaghetti bolognese inside and not ice cream!).
A 1 litre tub is usually available from Tesco stores or www.tesco.co.uk for £3.24 (2 for £5.00 at present) but I paid just £2.00 for my tub from my local Co-Operative and there was no signs indicating the usual price but I would expect it to be higher than Tesco as this is what I usually find.
There is 140 calories and 6.8g of fat per 100ml so perhaps knowing this will help me resist temptation later on!
I thoroughly enjoyed the small bowl that I had earlier and I will no doubt have another small bowl after tea tonight, that's providing I can resist the urge to just dig out the entire pot and scoff it in one sitting! I am rating this ice cream 5/5 and would thoroughly recommend it. Yum!
We tried some Dairy Milk Ice Cream today for the very first time. It came in a little square tub with 1lt inside it (not like the dooyoo picture but it is the same ice cream I'm sure). In Tesco they also had little square tubs of Dairy Milk Caramel Ice Cream but we decided we'd try this one first and if we liked it we'd try the other one next week. It cost £2 for this tub which is very reasonable I think.
My first impression of this ice cream wasn't good but then I should have known better given the price I paid! You can see that this is soft scoop ice cream that's jam packed full of air bubbles immediately which is of course the sign of a cheap padded out ice cream.
It wasn't overly soft when I dug the spoon in though so I think I was unduely put out initially! It is airy yes but not as much as store's own brand ice creams that I've experienced and the ice cream gave the spoon some good resistance as I dug it in.
The 1lt tub served four adults and one little one with nothing left over (we're big ice cream nuts round our way). I think that's very good when you think that's like 40p per adult and 20p for the child's portion. The taste was really chocolatey and creamy and I discovered loads of lovely little chunks of real Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate inside it. There weren't loads but there enough.
I think this is a four star ice cream over all. It's excellent value for money and makes a nice change for dessert at tea time. It isn't the best quality in the world but it's certainly got a very nice taste.
