      Gooey Chocolate Treat

I must confess that Cadbury Chocolate Trifles have become a guilty treat of mine that last couple of weeks since stumbling across them in Morrison's a couple of weeks ago. I was looking for fruit trifle for the Husband when I saw the twin pack of chocolate trifles for 99p so decided to treat myself (and Little Man) for an after lunch treat.

The pots are 90g each and when you open the foil lid they are pretty full to the top of the pot. You get a sweet creamy aroma when you open the lid and see the cream in soft peaks on the top. The cream is really nice and quite thick which I prefer, so if you did down to the lower layers it doesn't all collapse! Underneath the cream is sweet milk chocolate custard which is gooey and sticky, and then you get to the sponge layer. This is described as a chocolate chip cookie, and I'm not sure if it once was crunchy, but sandwiched between custard and mousse it has a soft spongy texture, which fits in well with the trifle theme. Once you have cleared the sponge you get to the best bit for me - the chocolate mousse. I did think being a Cadbury product that it would be a very sweet mousse but I was pleasantly surprised to find that it had a rich quality to the flavour, that wasn't quite dark chocolate but was more robust than milk chocolate, while remaining light and fluffy.

The only thing I don't like is that they contain pork gelatine, so are not suitable for vegetarians. However I have found this is very common in a lot of the yummy desserts I have tried, although I think they should try to use vegetarian gelatine although I guess this will drive the price up. They also contain Milk, Soya, and Wheat and may contain nuts.

As you can tell I was really impressed with these trifles - for less than 50p a pot they are decent priced and sized treat. At 235 calories per pot, they are around the same as an average chocolate bar, and at 15% fat they are not the healthiest of snacks, but I tend to have one with my lunch on the day after fat club weigh in as my treat for the week so I don't think they are that bad as long as you only eat them occasionally. I bought these with a 7 day life on them which is quite good for a product with cream, but they don't last long enough in our house to go out of date...

        A delicious tasting trifle!!

I really like Chocolate trifles and have eaten quite a few different types over the years including ones in little pots and larger ones . I only spotted this Cadbury Chocolate trifle in a twin pack recently. To be honest what drew me to it was not only the fact that I love trifle but the price! Sometimes Cadbury chocolate products can be quite pricey but these trifles are currently only £0.99pence wherever you go. The price is actually printed on the pack. This was great news for me and I was very pleasantly surprised.

I have since bought this in several different supermarkets. Each trifle weighs 90g and is described by Cadbury in the following way ; ' Cadbury milk chocolate mousse, Cadbury milk Chocolate dessert and chocolate chip cookie all topped with a layer of fresh cream' These trifles are incredibly delicious. There is the right amount of ingredients; in other words, there isn't too much or too little of anything. The chocolate dessert is lovely, very creamy and very smooth an I love the sponge. Luckily only one of my children likes this sort of dessert; so we basically have one each.

The information on the packaging is incredibly small and very difficult to read; I think somehow this should be made a lot easier to read. However, that aside, I highly recommend this trifle and what a super bargain they are at only 50pence each; you cant really go wrong here! So it's a well deserved 5 Dooyoo stars from me. Well done Cadbury!!
