Carte D'or Caramel Cinnamon Waffle
Advantages: Tastes delicious and sweet
Disadvantages: Not very healthy, which is unfortunate given how much I like it!
I finished working my through the tub of this ice cream that we bought for Christmas earlier today and felt compelled to review it. The likes of Carte D'or tend not to be bought too often in our house due to their ice creams being on the more expensive side but we will get them for things like Christmas and birthdays. I'd never previously tried this flavour, which I believe is one of the newer ones on offer, so I wasn't too sure what to expect from it. Having been impressed with Carte D'or ice creams in the past, I had high hopes that it would be of good quality and delicious.
I won't go into great detail here as you can get a very good idea of what the tub looks like from the above product image. However, I am going to highlight that the tub is transparent and gives a good view of the ice cream around the sides as this isn't particularly apparent from the product image and makes it look much the same as the lid.
According to the packaging, this ice cream is a combination of vanilla, cinnamon and caramel. I love both vanilla and caramel but I don't think that I'd ever previously encounter cinnamon so I wasn't sure what it would actually taste like.
I wouldn't say that any of the flavours are particularly overwhelming as within the tub there are various small sections of both vanilla and cinnamon with the caramel swirled in and bits of waffle incorporated. As you might expect from this, each particular segment is just the one flavour and they don't particularly come together as a combined taste so it's either a vanilla or cinnamon taste in each segment for the most part, despite the fact that the average spoon dipped into the tub will bring out scoops of both flavours. I realise that this isn't the best description but it's quite hard to describe. The lid of the product image is the best visual idea though.
The overriding taste is very sweet, especially with the caramel that is drizzled over the top. If I had to pick, I tend to prefer the cinnamon flavour best which is surprising given that I am usually an out and out vanilla fan but there was something very sweet and moreish about the cinnamon flavour for me!
The tub is now in the bin so I haven't got the nutritional information to hand but given the sweetness of this ice cream it's hardly going to be the healthiest treat around. Having scanned the box before it went in the bin, I believe that there is around 6g of fat in a typical portion (around 100ml) so you're best to limit how much you eat in a day!
Summary: Yummy ice cream
