Advantages: The taste, the size, the texture, the flavour

Disadvantages: Price, availablility

I first tried a Del Monte Smoothie when I was staying at my brother's house, and he got them out as a dessert. He had the blueberry kind. I was expecting it to be just the same as an ice lolly, but, though I do also like ice lollies, I was pleasantly surprised. The lollies are similar to Soleros in terms of size and consistency, though without the ice cream in the middle. Upon sucking a Smoothie, it becomes quite soft and creamy, while also tasting lovely and fruity. One of the best things about it is that it takes quite a long time to eat, which makes it feel like you are having a proper dessert, rather than 'just' an ice lolly. Another great thing about them is that they are quite low in calories. I believe the blueberry one was only 86 calories, and I think the others are also similar.

A downside is that they only come in packs of 3, or singly, and they are quite expensive. I believe they're about £2.50 for the pack of 3. My brother only got them in because they were on special offer at Morrisons at buy one, get two free. Another downside is that they are not stocked everywhere. My brother lives in Derbyshire, and got them at Morrisons. When I went to stay with my mum in Essex we looked for these in a fairly large branch of Sainsburys and they didn't have them. Since returning home to Sunderland I have looked for them in my local Sainsburys (which is quite small) and they didn't have them either. But, on a trip to my local corner shop yesterday evening looking for something to snack on, imagine my delight when I found that their ice cream freezer was full of single raspberry Smoothie lollies! I had to stop myself from jumping for joy! They are quite expensive as singles - think I paid about 90p, but the shop is only 2 minutes from my house, so I can now nip out and get one whenever the mood takes me! Which, I suspect, will be quite often!

Summary: The best lollies I have tasted in a long while!
