      Tasty roll

We ordered this from the eismann a few weeks ago and have just got round to trying it out. We were first attracted to it because it looked quite different to anything we had had before. The cream roll is like a swiss roll but inside instead of jam there is lemon flavored cream.

This roll is quite large, it is 400g and recommends that is 8 portions however I would say it is more like 6 portions and it costs £4.49.

The roll comes frozen so you need to defrost it first, it will take either 2 and a half hours at room temperature or overnight in the fridge. We did ours at room temperature and after 3 hours it was completely defrosted. Once defrosted you must leave it in the fridge if you are not going to eat it all at once.

Tucking into the roll I was surprised at how soft the sponge was, especially as it had been frozen. It was really soft, fluffy and light which meant it melted in the mouth. It had a really sweet flavour and tasted very nice. The cream was very tangy! There is a decent amount of cream in the roll so it is very easy to eat with the cake. The cream tastes fresh and not at all artificial, it is thick so it doesnt fall off your spoon and it tastes very lemony and very tangy!

I really enjoyed this cake. I had about a sixth of the cake and it left me satisfied. We will probably buy it again when we are not counting the pennies as it provided excellent quality and although it is expensive, it can serve 6-8 people at a dinner party or a lunch.

100g (which is a quarter of the roll) contains 311 calories, 21.7g sugars, 17.2g fat (11.3g saturates) and 0.09g sodium. The saturates here are huge so it is definitely only allowed as a treat and not every day!

We enjoyed this roll and would recommend it.
