Ok well I guess I've had a naughty week with the sweet treats this week and carrying on the theme is another bargain product from GU that Tesco's reduced to yet again 35p! How can you say no to that? GU After Dark Chocolate Banoffees: "Buttery biscuit base smothered in banana dulce de leche, mascarpone cheesecake and our signature chocolate ganache" My Findings: One box of these contains two desserts (2 x 85g), which come in glass ramekins. Rather up market I do think from the normal plastic ones you usually get. All you have to do is take off the plastic cap/lid then away you go into dessert heaven. These are not to be frozen just chilled within the fridge and ready to eat straight from the box. When you first pull the lid off you can do get a mild sweet banana aroma circling from the dessert, with hints of chocolate. I couldn't wait to dig in! My first taste I found it to have a strong taste of banana with a sweet bitter chocolate aftertaste. You can see each yummy layer as your spoon enters the glass ramekin and each layer is as tasty as one another, personally my favourite layer is the chocolate topping! The chocolate topping is rather thick and kind of tastes like a mix of dark and milk chocolate really nice, and very smooth. Then the middle layer tastes like a banana cream but very rich, so rich in fact I would go as far to say it would be a much better dessert with only half the amount. Then the bottom layer of this pudding is a crumbly biscuit base which if I had to be picky I like mine to have more a biscuit feel, this base was a little soggy. However they all team well together and more than likely would purchase them again if on offer. It really is like a sweet explosion in your mouth and for once I did not manage to finish all of mine due to it being a little too rich and sweet for my liking. However it is still one gorgeous pudding I just think they over did it with the flavour of the banana cream. Being rather new to the world of GU one thing I really like is their packaging with there art deco feel to the presentation. I guess as the normal price is a little pricey they need to stand out a little, however it wasn't until I started looking for this product I started to notice them. Before then I didn't even know they existed. The packaging and glass ramekins are also fully recyclable so remember to do your bit. Price and Availability: So far I have only found this brand to be at Tesco's, the normal price of this product is £3.49. Lucky me I got them for a bargain as they reduced them to 35p! I do love it when I find a bargain. Overall: I did like these desserts however the first ones I tried "GU After Dark Saucy Caramel Puds" clearly win hands down. They tasted nice but really over did the banana cream which over powered the sweetness and richness of the whole pudding. So even though they are only small I couldn't finish it. I would still recommend these beauties as I know people that love over the top sweet stuff, so give them a go you never know. Three out for five stars from me.
