Gu Cheeky Little Pots Au Chocolat
Advantages: presentation, different, individual
Disadvantages: price, bitter taste, nothing special
Gu offer a range of tempting dessert products which include chocolate and fruit ingredients.
The Cheeky Double Chocolate Puddings are part of the "After Noon" range from Gu. They hold a more formal subtitle of Chocolate Ganache and are described as being "a sumptuous, silky little hit of rich, dark and intensely chocolatey ganache". Sound tempting? Well everyone can take pleasure in these dessert pots as they are suitable for the vegetarians amongst us. These are the Pots Au Chocolat..mini style!
A deep dark box illustrating 3 little pots of chocolatey goodness and all the relevant product information, holds a slide out plastic tray. Present and correct, are 3 little black pots with brown foil lids. The packaging can be recycled and the pots should be kept chilled within the fridge.

*Availability and Price*
These cheeky little puddings are available in major supermarkets. They come in a pack of 3 x 45 g and are priced around £1.50 (Asda) to just over £2.00 in Tesco.
I bought these on offer at Tesco alongside the Gu Mini Cheesecakes as I wanted to see what the expensive and fuss was all about! They came in handy when I had my sister visiting for dinner the other night as we devoured one of these and a mini cheesecake each. I had the last cheeky pud tonight but I'm in mixed opinion about them to be honest..I believe they are an acquired taste!
The pots look fancy and so does the outer packaging. The tempting picture is enough to set tongues salivating! These pots are tiny and looks smaller than the cheesecakes ones despite claiming to be 45g each. But believe me, 45g of this chocolate ganache is more than enough even for those chocolate loves amongst us! In Tesco, a quick look of the ingredients had me no more aware if this was fully dark chocolate or just an intense milk chocolate.
I've never had "ganache" before so didn't know what I was letting myself in for. Inside the pretty little pot, a dark brown (but not as intense as dark chocolate), thick ganache was present. It had an unusual consistency..somewhere between melted chocolate and a mousse. My spoon sunk into the chilled pud easily bringing a blob of smooth yet firm chocolatey goodness to the surface and just screaming out "eat me"! Its tempting aroma also hit my nostrils as was to die for!
This ganache is quite heavy and I found I needed to take smaller spoonfuls to fully digest it and appreciate the quality of it at the same time. It was very rich and indugent yet had a strong, bitter taste running through it which gave it a dark chocolate edge. The chocolate was packed full of creamy, sweetness and delicious flavours which melted in my mouth but never lost its thickness.
I found the hit of bitterness and richness a bit too rich for my tastebuds but the aftertaste was very nice..light and creamy and rather mild in chocolate-ness! I felt very satisfied after eating a pot of this and although I only managed to get around 5 teaspoonfuls, it was plentiful and took me a good 10mins to devour due to the high chocolate content!
*Recommendation and Conclusion*
Like I said in my other Gu review, these little pots are something different and flavoursome so ideal individual after dinner treats if you have guests for dinner. I don't think I would bother with these again as despite liking them, they aren't really to my tastes and are rather overpriced. I will recommend these if you find them on offer but I would buy a nice fresh cake from the supermarket deli or local shop!
Thanks for reading :D
