I love the little Gu chocolate pots and although they are expensive I do buy occassionally as a treat but I decided that for the price I would rather buy this bigger family size one. Dieters avert your eyes now as one eigth of this pud has a whopping 283calories!

The claims "This Gü chocolate torte is incredibly velvety, staggeringly chocolatey and intensely gü-ey" and in my opinion they have hit the nail bang on the top of the head ! The guidlines state that a portion is approximately one eighth of the pud which is quite small, not much more than a sliver per person but about right because in my opinion any more could make you sick!

The torte is dense thick (I think the actual mix could do with being a little lighter). On first taste though you can tell that it is made with a good quality chocolate and has a really rich chocolatey taste, that slightly bitter flavour you get from a good quality cocoa combined with a slight sweetness. The torte melts in your mouth and has a really soft velvet consistency and cream which only adds to the gooeyness of the pudding.

The picture on the box is actually decptive because the pud itself is not as deep as you would expect from a shop brought one, only perhaps a centimeter or so thick (the box size suggests it could be slightly bigger), for me a torte should be quite thick at least 2-3cm (if I make my own) but that isnt the main problem I have with it. Because it is so sticky it is almost impossible to remove it from its plastic tray whilst keeping the pud intact and it is just as hard to slice the portions for the same reason (even with a knife that has been run under hot water) leaving the finished portion serving looking messy so it is just as well that the serving suggestion on the box says to dress with a dusting of cocoa or icing sugar!

Overall this is a really tasty and good quality pudding that any chocolate lover would be more than happy to devour. If your looking to use it at a dinner party you may have issues with the presentation but overall it is worth the money. I am not sure if I would personally bother buying again because for the same cost I could make my own which tastes just as good. It is recommended that you serve with a generous dollop of Jersey double cream which would send the dish sky rocketing to a belly popping 600+ calories!

I brought mine from Tesco for £3.99 which isnt that pricey for a good quality pudding.
