Advantages: cute packaging, good for small treat
Disadvantages: same consistency through out (no gooeyness!!) nothing special
A couple of weeks ago me and my friend were bored and decided we'd have a home picnic and watch some DVDs. So we went to Tesco and dumped a whole load of stuff in our basket. These soufflés are something my friend picked out and are something I never would have looked at. They came in a stylish pink and black box, I read the back in the shop and was surprised to find the box quite heavy, this is because the soufflés are in two little glass dishes inside!
I still didn't really understand what it was that my friend had picked up, I just assumed it would be warm chocolate cake with gooeyness inside but was looking forward to it as I like chocolate. I can't remember how much the box of two cost as I didn't buy them but I'm guessing fairly expensive due tot the nice packaging and glass pots. The pots can be recycled or even used around the house to store things.
So anyway, when we got home, I set up the DVD player while my friend sorted these out, she put them in the oven for about 10 minutes and brought them out on plates and warned me that it was hot (yes I do need telling this sort of thing...). I've never eaten anything presented this way before and thought they looked really cute! It looked like a mini, fluffy chocolate cake in a little glass pot and made me feel all posh when eating it!
I did enjoy my little soufflé, as it was warm and tasty but I was expecting gooeyness in the middle but it just seemed to be the same texture all the way through the soufflé. It was soft and maybe a little too moist so there was no goo to enjoy in the middle. I also felt like there was wasn't even and would have liked it to be a little larger (piggy me!), I was still a bit hungry after eating it. Although this is a dessert type thing and I hadn't eaten dinner before so I would probably think differently had I eaten it as a dessert like I should of! It was also very easy getting all the cake out of the glass too as I worried I might not get it all out.
Overall it was nice and enjoyable but nothing amazing and didn't make me go 'MMMMMM' like a crazy chocolate woman. I think if I tried it again I would definitely eat it after dinner as it's the perfect size for a small treat and maybe try and add something like ice cream with it as I felt it was lacking something.
Summary: Just an average warm fluffy cake that looks nice and feels posh!
