Advantages: Creamy, strong baileys taste
Disadvantages: Melts quickly
Oooh I did not think ice cream could get any better, but Haagen dazs have done it! I normally am a mint choc chip girl but on a recent trip to blockbusters to get a dvd I was tempted by the offer they had on the large tubs on Haagen daz. They had the large 1 litre tubs for half price, so it came to around £2.50 I think. I must have been the only person in the world that did not know that Haagen daaz made baileys ice-cream!!
Baileys is my ultimate favourite alcoholic drink, although I tend to only drink it at Christmas time. It is far too creamy and rich to drink on a night out with the girls but I do love a small glass as a treat. This ice cream therefore sounded heavenly to me.
The packaging is fairly standard, the usual Haagen daaz logo on the front with the baileys logo underneath, so no pictures or anything to give you an indication of what it will be like. When you take the lid off it looks fairly boring, just a creamy slightly browny colour ice cream, the same colour as baileys.
But don't be fooled by its boring exterior, it is the tastiest, yummiest ice -cream I had ever had. It was so soft and creamy and above all really did taste like baileys. Quite often these flavour ice creams can be abit weak compared to what they are meant to be tasting like. This however was not, it tasted very strongly of baileys and you almost felt like you were getting the full alcoholic-ness of the drink. I did check however and the baileys content is only 4% so I hardly think you could get drunk off it, but still it really does taste that strong!
It is rich and creamy but I really did not get bored of it, I had to stop myself half way down otherwise I would have easily eaten the whole tub to myself.
My only criticism is that it does melt really quickly. The adverts for Haagen daaz go on about how the icecream melts slowly but In my experience that just isn't the case. I put the other half back in the freezer and when I went to get it out the next day I left it out to defrost abit. 5 minutes later I came back to a tub of liquid icecream. Slightly disappointing, but it tasted nice all the same!
Summary: A gorgeous baileys flavour icecream
