Haagen Dazs Baileys
Advantages: Pure heaven in a pot
Disadvantages: Really bad for your hips - but your alowed one comfort every now and then
I am a big fan of Baileys and drink it every christmas. I love the creaminess of the liquor.
Out shopping one day i saw a baileys ice cream made by Haagen - Dazs, i dont like ice cream i have very sensitive teeth and find ice cream far to cold and to sweet. I bought a pot because i know my sister is a fan of Haggen - Dazs and would be round later that eveing for a girly night.
I got home and put the ice cream in the freezer and nearly forgot about it, after a few glasses of wine and some serious pigging out i remebered that i had bought her this ice cream. I got the ice cream out of the freezer and her face lit up. She opened it straight away and started to eat the lot. I asked if i may try it not expecting it to taste like Baileys and knowing i would dislike it as it is after all ice cream. It was lovely.
I was in love, my taste buds came alive, not only did it taste of Baileys but it wasnt cold and harsh on my teeth. It was creamy and it was like a smooth milkshake but it was ice cream. It didnt taste frozen and it wasnt hard. I really dont like ice cream but this was something completly different. If you are like me and have sensitive teeth then try this it is so good.
As you can imagin this ended up with us having a row as both of us wanted to eat all this ice crream and it is not one to share. This is the kind of ice cream that you eat alone when you want something to comfort you and a bit of pampering. We managed to share it in the end without it turing in to a fight. We both admit that this is the best ice cream that you can get.
Although it is a bit pricey at around £3.45 for a 415g pot, it is perfect for that treat once a month. And you have to keep it to once a month, not only because of the price but because of the amount of calories. It contains a whopping 225kcal and 14.7g of fat per 100ml. The pot containes 500ml so that is a huge amount as i garentee you will eat the lot. A great indulgence but not great for your hips.
The container is a medium size pot decorated in red and gold. It has the typical Haagen - Dazs logo on the front and on the lid and the Baileys logo positioned just under this. On the back of the tub there is a list of ingredients. Acording to the list it only containes 4% Baileys irish cream. Wow how cool is that, the taste of Baileys without there being a abundent amount of the alcohol in the ice cream.
It also states "for your longer lasting pleasure" . Well i dont agree, there is just not enough in the pot for longer lasting pleasure. When you have finished the pot all you do is crave more and you will finish the pot. It does however leave a coating of baileys in your mouth which even after an hour you can still taste.
Also on the back is the nutrition information and a web site address. There is also a free phone number that you can call to leave your comments. The sell by date is on the bottom of the pot.
As you can proberly tell i have become a huge fan of this ice cream, but there is one big problem, whilst out shopping i thought i need to get some of that amazing comfort ice cream, and i couldnt find it anywhere. I looked in Asda, Tescos, and spa. I was gutted. I know that Asda and Tesco do sell it, but were out of stock and i ahve writen a letter of complaint. How can they be out of stock on something that is pure heaven for a whole week.
Eventually my partner spoted it in the local newsagents. Thank God and tonight i will be enjoying my one and only very naughty comfort food.
Summary: A real treat, but remember to keep it hidden, you wont want to share.
