I absolutely adore banoffee pie and I have to say it is my favourite desert ever so when I saw this Haagen Daz banoffee ice cream on sale in Morrisons for only £2 putting a grapling hook in my mouth wouldnt have stopped me from buying it! When it comes to ice cream Im more of a Ben & Jerrys girl but lately Ive started to notice that Haagen Daz do have some flavours that I reckon sound really yummy so Ive been buying loads of them recently. Which is great for my sweet tooth but not so great for my bum, tum & thighs lol. Anyway even if this ice cream was going to make me the size of a house I would still have eaten it because the flavours just sounded so delicious.

Its annoying me that I cant find the exact nutritioanl values for this flavour but I assume it is the same as most ice cream flavours from this range and that makes it pretty bad for you. Obviously this is intended to be eaten as a treat and not as an everyday snack!

18% Banana Puree, 10% Caramel Sauce & 5% Pecan Nut Cookie Pieces. The Rest Is Obviously Ice Cream.

The Taste:
As soon as I lifted the lid of the top of this tub I was greeted with a really strong, yet proper nice smell of banana's and it looked even yummier. The ice cream looked quite like vanilla but with gorgeous caramel and banana swirls running through it. I could aslo just about pick out the little pieces of nut and believe me this was enough to get my mouth watering and I just knew it was going to taste amazing.

Im happy to say that I was not disappointed at all. The ice cream actually tasted like proper, fresh banana with none of that artificial nonsence, the taste of the banana is pretty strong but I dont think it overwhelms any of the other flavours at all and its not so strong that you left feeling sick afterwards. At this point my mom decided she was dying for some ice cream, but I won because shes allergic to banana's hehe so I got to finish the whole tub by myself.

When you take a few spoonfuls of the ice cream out of the tub you then start to properly see the caramel and banana swirls which both look really thick and rich and they taste amazing. The caramle swirls are really thick and actually not as sweet as Id expected but the puree is very, very sweet so I think the two tastes and flavours both compliment each other really well without making the ice cream taste to sickly overall.

The pecan nut pieces were the only thing Im going to have a moan about. To be honest I couldnt really taste them at all. Im not sure whether the flavours in teh nuts were just so weak or whether all the other, stronger flavours just overpowered it but I was disappointed that I couldnt taste those at all. Having said that I think teh textures of the pecan nuts work really well with the softness of the ice cream and the thickness of the different sauces and it all mixes up into an absolutely divine ice cream that I couldnt stop eating!

Does It Taste Like Banoffee Pie?
Banoffee Or No Banoffee. That Is The Question. Lol. Anyway I think this tasted a lot like the real thing it wasnt like the same desert only in a tub but it is very similar. All the flavours are exactly the same and the texture is pretty close as well. Although I reckon an actual banoffee pie would have less calories than this!

Price:
I think these are around £5 when its not on sale and you can get them from any supermarket in your area. Having said that in the supermarkets by me this range often has loads of offers on so keep your eyes peeled for a bargain.

Overall Opinion:
Im going back to Morrisons to stock up on this before the sale ends or everyone realises how nice they are and buy them all! Its going to be hard for me to only eat this in moderation because it is so tasty and this is going to be a new treat for myself every time my sweet tooth needs satisfying! I highly recommend this to every one whos loves banoffee pie and even for those who are just looking to try out some new ice cream because this is bloody lovely!
