Advantages: The real chocolate shavings.

Disadvantages: The cost

I used to hate ice-cream as a child, but am now a fan largely due to Haagen-Dazs Belgian Chocolate ice-cream. My love of this ice-cream began when I bought a small tub as a treat at the cinema, I now can't resist the large 500ml tubs from the supermarket.

These tubs are priced at approx £3.50 to £4.00 but are very offen on special offer for BOGOF or at £3.00 (sainsburys at the moment)

This ice-cream is made for chocoholics and chocolate lovers. The ingredience include Fresh cream (29%), skimmed milk, sugar solution (sugar, water), dark Belgian Chocolate (13%) and others (check out the haagen-dazs website for the full list). There are 277 calories per 100ml serving and 18.4 grams of fat.

The saturated fats are high at 11.1 grams per 100ml as is the sugar content at 19.6 grams. The salt content is very low at only 0.06 grams.

The ice-cream is smooth and creamy but has delicious shavings of belgian chocolate throughout which sets it apart from any other chocolate ice-cream. It has a strong chocolatey flavour and so may become too sickly for some after a while, espescially if left to go soft.

In my opinion it is unbeatable and uncomparable and although expensive makes a great treat every now and again.

Summary: Delicious for chocolate lovers and best served straight from the freezer.
