I'm not too keen on ice-cream as I can take it or leave it. I suppose I've only really tasted either Icelands cheapo vanilla or Mr Whippy's (or similar) & have always thought that it's more trouble than it's worth when it melts as soon as you start eating it.

Well, I have to say that opinion of ice-cream has now changed having tried the delicious Haagen-Dazs Strawberry Cheesecake - it's truly lovely.

Hubby came home with a box of mini H-D in different flavours which he found in Costco & my daughter asked if I'd like to try one thinking I'd like the Strawberry Cheesecake. I really enjoyed it & was well pleased to have been bought a 430g tub which, as I'm getting over pneumonia at the moment, I was told was strictly only for my consumption!

I think this size costs around £4 which may seem expensive but, in my opinion, worth every penny.

The tub is as pictured & has a sturdy lid which prevents contamination & keeps the contents fresh. It's easy to open & clicks shut so there's no stickiness or mess around the rim or tub.

The thing that surprised me most when I opened it was the consistency; not being an icey expert I've got used to soft scoop so was pleased to see that this is much denser & harder than all I've ever tried. The colour is a kind of winter white & there are plenty of cheesecake bits with not too much strawberry which I like.

The taste is lovely as I think H-D have exactly the right blend of colours, textures & taste. The ice-cream is great quality but not overly sweet, the cheesecake is crunchy & chewy & there's plenty of it whilst the strawberry helps to add colour & interest & doesn't detract from the other flavours.

I'm not sure how long this tub will last because I offered some to my daughter last night (nice Mum!) & there's not much left in the bottom - I can tell you that even though there isn't a lot left there are still lots of bits of cheesecake & strawberry - it's not all just ice-cream.

I won't spoil this review by telling you how many calories or the fat & sugar content is contained in a serving but the nutritional information & ingredients are listed on the back of the container for those who really want to know. Let me just say that I shall be saving the last helping for myself & will enjoy every mouthful!
