“ Type: Ice Cream „
Maltesers are a very popular treat all over the UK. They have developed into all sorts of off shoots. The standard size packs, large packs, white chocolate maltesers and maltesers in celebration packets, smaller size servings etc. I do not like regular sized Maltesers as weirdly when I eat them I feel like they scratch my teeth. I love size of maltesers that you get in celebration boxes, where they are more chocolate and lots of little separated chunks of honeycombe. With this in mind I was torn as to whether I would like this ice cream, but picked it up while it was on special off and gave it a go.
Normal price, this ice cream would be out of my everyday price range. Therefore to be purchased it would either have to be very special and therefore qualify for treats status, or be on special offer. I picked it up for the first time when it was half price in Tesco. The ice cream comes in a cylinder style tub made of plastic. I am not sure if this tub is recyclable or not, which would be a plus in my opinion. One good thing is that the tub is reuseable. You can wash it out and use it to store things in. The tub is decorated like regular maltesers, it is bright red (signature red!) with the chunky brown writing that is instantly recognisable with maltesers. The lid peels of easily to give a creamy coloured ice cream with chunks visable in it.
Maltesers ice cream is creamy and thick and very golden. It has a lovely sweet taste to it that feels like it is going to melt in the mouth, The texture is just as adorable as it is easy to get your spoon into and isn't impossible to spoon out! Scattered generously in the ice cream are chunks of maltesery goodness, just in the right ratio of honeycombe to chocolate in my opinion!
I would recommend this ice cream. There are a few downsides which is normally to be expected with a tasty product. The calorie content is high, as it the cost. However this is a great product if it is kept for a treat!
My guess is that everyone reading this review will have tried a malteser at some point in there life. Just to go over it, maltesers are round chocolatey balls with a malt, crunchy centre and chocolate coated all over the outside. So it doesn't take a genius to take a guess at what malteser ice cream will be. Basically its like maltesers blended with ice cream.
Mostly, the ice cream gives off the taste that the inner part of a malteser gives. The dominant chocolate in maltesers still coats the outside but also has flakes in the ice cream as well. You should think of Maltesers ice creams/lollies as a giant rectangular malteser which has been frozen. Because thats exactly what it tastes like. I think that by turning maltesers into ice cream, they just upped the taste to a whole new level. In my opinion, they taste 3x as good as magnums. And thats really saying something.
The only downside to them is that if you buy them seperately they can be quite expensive. On their own they retail at around £2. Personally, I think thats way to expensive for the size of them. Although multipacks are better value. A pack of 4 malteser ice creams do retail at a much better price, I don't know exactly what it is. Although I think it is around £3, this price will vary from store to store.
So overall, Malteser Ice cream lollies taste fantastic. Despite being quite expensive for what they are. They are well worth a try!
You will all be aware of Maltesers and most of you will know White Maltesers. well these are a new White Maltesers ice cream lolly. White Maltesers were introduced as a limited edition Christmas promotion in 2003. However, they were popular enough for Mars to continue producing them. In 2005 they made White Maltesers Ice Cream.
The Ice cream lolly is much the same in shape as the normal malteser lolly with it's stick and three ball shapes with malteser balls mixed with the outside white chocolate, the ice cream itself is a delicously creamy vanilla flavour which has little bits of the white malteser in.
You can buy these from every large supermrket like Asda, Tesco, Sainsburys, Waitrose and Morrisons and you can also get good deals in Iceland. You can also buy these in the bigger chain newsagents for around the same price. These generally retail for about £1.50-£1.99 for a pack of three but you can often get great buy one get one free deals on these as most places will regularly have deals on. You can also get a pack of six for £2.49 but they won't be as readily available as the three pack.
Each lolly is something like only 170 calories from 31 grams each so not bad at all and the box has either three or six lollies in each box. There is a detailed picture on the box of what one of these looks like without the wrapper.
Giving you a better choice of what to buy.
The taste is lovely and so moorish. The Vanilla ice cream and crunchy malteser combination is a treat and the white chocolate together with those makes it scrumptious. This is one of my favourite ice creams on a stick and I'm sure a lot of you will love it too.
And with the weather we are currently experiencing and with the expected hot summer we are going to have these are going to come in very handy for cool snacks and seeing as they are low calorie you won't have to worry about the extra calories to be burned.
what more could you want in an ice cream lolly? lovely taste and cools you down.
I will have to pick up a couple of boxes of this when i next do more shopping. Hopefully I will find a good offer on somwhere because of the lovely weather we have had recently.
