Rating:

Advantages: Low in fat, provides 31% RDA of calcium, plenty of fruit!

Disadvantages: Contains gelatine and aspartame

This is another of the Muller Light flavours that I've never tried before so here goes.....

Packaging:

The yogurt comes in a plastic white & yellow pot. The pot is covered with the usual foil lid with a picture of some yellow fruit which is presumably meant to represent the peach and pineapple not that you'd know if the flavour wasn't listed on the pot.. The pot tells us that it weighs 200g that there are 98 calories per pot, that it's fat free and that each pot will provide you with 31% of your Recommended Daily Amount of calcium.

The ingredients for this flavour are: Yogurt, Water, Peach (5%), Pineapple (4.5%), Fructose, Modified Maize Starch, Gelatine, Flavourings, Acidity Regulators: Sodium Citrates, Citric Acid; Stabilisers: Pectins, Sweetener: Aspartame

The Yogurt:

On opening the pot I can see that the yogurt is a off white colour and that there are a few bits of yellow fruit in it. However, you can't tell whether they're pineapple or peach. The consistency looks thick and the yogurt looks reasonably thick and it's looks fairly appetising.

Taste:

This yogurt is quite thick and has lots of pieces of fruit in it. In fact, it appears to have got the most fruit of any Muller Light that I've tried this far. On first taste the yogurt is thick and creamy. Not too sweet and not too sour, just about right really. The peach does taste of peach and the pineapple does taste of apple which is always a plus point when you consider that some things (stand up Chocolate Sprinkles!) don't taste of anything at all. Oddly enough there's only half a percent between the peach and the pineapple according to the listed ingredients, but, if asked, I'd have said that there appeared to be a lot more peach in the pot than the pineapple. Overall a very pleasant taste experience.

Price:

At time of writing Morrisons have Muller Lights on offer for 25p

Opinion:

I thought I was on fairly safe ground with this yogurt as I like both peach and pineapple so I wasn't at all surprised when I tasted it and found it to be very pleasant indeed. The main surprise was the amount of fruit in the pot. I was barely able to taste a single spoonful without getting at least a couple of bits of fruit wrapped up in the yogurt which was very pleasing. As fruits however, I've never found peach or pineapple to hit the "moreish" button for me in the same way that cherries or grapes might do. So, whilst this is a very pleasant tasting product there are other flavours I'd pick first if given the choice.
As well as the pleasant taste this yogurt provides you with 31% of your RDA of calcium and, as with the rest of the range, is virtually fat free.
On the negative side this yogurt contains both aspartame and gelatine, both of which some people have issues / concerns over and it's not suitable for anyone with any sort of milk intolerance or allergy.
