Advantages: Very creamy, fruit and tasty
Disadvantages: They can be expensive
I have to admit that before a little time before now, I hadn't tried these! Not because I don't like the sound of them it is because I am the only person in the family to want to try them, as my family prefer to eat yoghurts as I do normally. However while my Dad was out shopping he found am Muller rice strawberry pot at a very cheap price of £0.10- I therefore accepted to trying one.
Taste; I ate mine cold. I was very impressed with the pudding. The rice pudding was very creamy. The rice was also very soft. I found the strawberry "puree" to be sweet, but without being sickly. It was a very nice addition to the pudding itself. It was also nice that the combination of two flavours did not cancel out each other- as neither were to over powering to do this.
Smell; My first impressions of the rice pudding were good as it smelt very fruity and quite sweet which is probably because I could also detect a smell rather like condensed milk.
Packaging; I was pleasantly surprised to find a high quantity of "pudding" considering that that was meant to be a "low fat" product. The quantity of rice pudding was 190 grams. The container, holding the rice pudding was a plastic pot, like you would find one containing yoghurt. The label on the plastic pot was coloured, blue, white, *red and green (*as a strawberry). I was surprised to find that you could consume this pudding ethier hot or cold.
Product Quality; I think the quality of this dessert is high. The rice pudding was very soft and creamy. I was pleased to find Strawberry pips in the fruity, flavoursome sauce- as it seemed more natural to have this rather than the strawberry sauce to be completely smooth as it would of tasted more processed.
Value For Money; You can get these Strawberry Rice puddings individually or in multipacks of 6 (In 95g or 190g pots) Although I got my Muller Rice a bit cheaper this time (at £0.10 for 1 unit) they normally sell for £0.60 per pot. Waitrose however are currently selling them at half price for individual pots at £0.30 each. Sainsbury's are selling the multipack of 6(190gram pots) for just £2.00, instead of £3.28. I felt that the full price of these is a little expensive- however on offer, they give good value for money.
Verdict; A tasty dessert or snack, if a little pricey, if not found on offer.
