I recently wandered over to farmfoods to buy an ice cream- it was quite a warm day (amazing i know!) and i wanted something quite refreshing. I saw a box of 3 'Mivvi' for just £1 so picked up a box (33pence an ice cream is excellent value i thought!)
They are advertised as 'Strawberries and Clotted Cream'. They are a reasonable size each- bigger than a choc-ice bar. They are quite icy on the outside which is a thick strawberry shell- this is fruity, not dairy. The inside is a thick ice cream- i wouldn't say it is distinctly clotted cream however, just a standard ice cream. Each one is on a wooden stick and it was quite easy to eat- it didnt mealt, didnt crumble, wasn't sticky at all.
Being so icy it did bother my sensitive teeth quite a bit but rich tasting cheap summer ice cream here at a very affordable price- can't complain!
I remeber these from my childhood. They were great.
The strawberry ice around the out side is so juicy and full of fruit and it just the right thickness that once the juice is sucked out it crumbles easily and the ice crean oozes out! The ice cream is really creamy and soft and complements the strawberry ice really well.
These ises are pretty cheap, depending of course where you get them. From the ice cream van they are around 99p but from the supermarket bought in bulk they are around 50p each. Great for each price!
They are so nice on a hot day and offer the best of both worlds, the juicy refreshing ice around the edge and the creamy ice cream in the middle. What could be better.
I dont calorie count so have no idea how many calories are in these, howeve rthey are made from ice cream which is never low in fat!! but really, we all deserve a bit of a treat once in a while!
These are great treats for a hot day and great value for money in this currentl climate.
